Signature Theatre Announces Plays Selected For SIGWORKS: Monday Night New Play Reading Series

Signature Theatre continues its commitment to new work and developing local talent by presenting the fifth season of SigWorks: Monday Night New Play Reading Series. This season Signature is proud to present four plays a?" Strange Men by Will Snider, Ay Gerald! by Vaughn Ryan Midder, The Story of Walter by Audrey Cefaly, and At the Full Yum by Rahima Rice.

The Growlers Drop Single 'Try Hard Fool'

Los Angeles-based rockers The Growlers drop their new track 'Try Hard Fool' today, the third single from their anticipated upcoming LP Natural Affair. Hot off their recent European tour - which included a stand-out set at the Green Man Festival in the UK - the band's winning new fans worldwide with their 80s-infused take on that all-American sound of raw, rumbling garage rock. Compass Performing Arts Center Announces Fall Lineup

The Compass Performing Arts Center's begins a new era of diverse programming and the building of a forum for local creative-class individuals, musicians and performance groups to present their artistry. Additionally, the Compass Performing Arts Center is opening the Compass Art Gallery for local and region artists to display their works. Rising Appalachia Will Play The Bowery Ballroom Nov. 29!

America's adored World-Folk music group, Rising Appalachia, have already had a career-defining year and it's the start of September. Sisters Leah Song and Chloe Smith have led the band to new heights in 2019; releasing their much-anticipated LP Leylines which was met with high praise from fans and critics alike. Today, the band released the official video for the song “Cuckoo” via Billboard Magazine, who called the song a “perception changer” that “channels their southern roots.” Next week, the band will showcase at AMERICANAFEST in Nashville, TN before kicking off a two month Leylines release tour in Telluride, CO on Sept. 2o. 

JUDGMENT DAY Gets World Premiere At Park Avenue Armory

This December, Park Avenue Armory will round out its 2019 season with the world premiere of a new adaptation of ?-dön von Horváth's 1937 play Judgment Day, an ambitious work that explores morality, responsibility, and the guilt of a small-town's train stationmaster and his community. The adaptation, commissioned by the Armory and penned by Obie Award-winning and Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Christopher Shinn, is staged by famed British theater director Richard Jones, who returns to the Armory to helm this gripping moral parable following his critically acclaimed, eight-time Drama Deska?"nominated production of The Hairy Ape  at the Armory in 2017. With much of the narrative centered around an ill-fated train depot, Judgment Day and its vast set will take on special resonance in the 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Halla?"reminiscent of the great nineteenth century train sheds of Europe, with its vaulted ceiling and raw industrial design. The production runs December 5, 2019 through January 11, 2020. Casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Noorda Center for the Performing Arts at Utah Valley University today announced the full New York-based creative team for the pre-Broadway production of new musical a?oeFly More Than You Fall.a?? The poignant contemporary fantasy about a teenager dealing with her mother's diagnosis will be presented from Sept. 12 to 28, 2019 in advance of its intended Broadway bow.
