Everybody's Talking About Jamie, the much anticipated film adaptation of the award-winning West End hit musical, has been selected as the opening night feature for the 39th annual Outfest in Los Angeles.

The film, from New Regency, Film4 and Warp Films, stars the breakout discovery Max Harwood as Jamie New, alongside Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley, with Sharon Horgan and Richard E. Grant.

On Friday 20 August, the EIFF screening which will be accessed by the public using an EIFF first 'Pay-What-You-Can' model will be preceded by a unique and inclusive outdoor celebration event in St Andrew Square Edinburgh's Talking About Jamie.

The UK Tour will recommence  its travels around the country, opening at The Lowry from 1 September and visiting 24 venues  including a four-week Christmas season in Brighton. The tour will also pause for six weeks in January  as the show opens in Los Angeles for a run at the prestigious Ahmanson Theatre. The UK tour will then  recommence playing to end May 2022. A second UK tour is planned for 2023. 

Despite the current capacity restrictions in the UK, a number of West End productions are soldiering on under social distancing guidelines. Along with the likes of SIX, Amélie and Les Misérables: The Staged Concert, one hit show that is leading the charge in London is Everybody's Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre.

What must it feel like to perform to a socially distanced auditorium of masked audience members? Well, if the other night’s 1000th performance of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is to be used as a benchmark, nothing could possibly mask the sense of joy and unity felt in the room for those 2.5 hours.
