A searing MEASURE FOR MEASURE. Burbage Theatre Co. offers a gripping production of Shakespeare's 'problem play'

Burbage Theatre Co will present the 21st Century Rhode Island Premiere of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, directed by founding Artistic Director Jeff Church, at the Wendy Overly Studio Theatre in Pawtucket.

Midway through Trinity Repertory Company’s production of The Winter’s Tale, a handful of courtiers gather scattered objects from the stage — a painter’s palette, a bodhrán, a pair of tambourines — and begin, slowly, to move together. For a moment you can’t quite decipher what you’re seeing. Then, with gathering, terrible momentum, it resolves: they are the bear.

Trinity Repertory Company will present THE WINTER’S TALE by William Shakespeare as part of its 62nd season. The production is directed by Ben Steinfeld and will run in repertory with The Roommate.

I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t seen it since 2014, so this 49th annual production was especially new and fresh for me, much like revisiting an old friend whom I hadn’t realized how much I missed, and I understood once again why New Englanders trek to Providence year after year during the yuletide season for this magical experience.

Trinity Rep will stage its 49th annual production of A Christmas Carol from November 6–December 31, 2025, in the Dowling Theater. Directed by Richard and Sharon Jenkins, the production features Stephen Thorne as Scrooge.
