Eclipse Theatre Company announces the recipient of 2020's Eleventh Annual Corona Award: Mary Ann Thebus and Michael and Mona Heath. The Corona Award honors individuals and organizations which play an important role in supporting and nurturing the growth of the Chicago theatre community as well as small- to medium-sized theatres like Eclipse Theatre.

The Howard County Arts Council is pleased to announce the 23rd Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County, presented by Howard Bank, on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College in Columbia. Mary Ann and Chuck Scully will act as Honorary Chairs for the evening. Joseph Ritsch, Producing Artistic Director for Rep Stage, will serve as Event Emcee.

Get ready to swoon! Catskill's adventurous Bridge Street Theatre launches its 2020 Season with a special Valentine's Day Weekend benefit performance of Edmund Bagnell's a?oeHe Plays the Violina??. OPERA America has awarded $220,000 in Repertoire Development Grants to The American Opera Project (New York, NY) in consortium with Seagle Music Colony (Schroon Lake, NY), Beth Morrison Projects (New York, NY), Houston Grand Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Diego Opera and The Dallas Opera. The grants provide technical and financial support to OPERA America Professional Company Members and their producing partners to enhance the quality, quantity and creativity of new American opera and music theater.

The Country Music Association will honor Conway Entertainment Group/Ontourage Management founder/owner Tony Conway with its 2019 CMA Touring Lifetime Achievement Award. Conway received the news during last week's CMA Board of Directors meeting in Nashville, where he received a standing ovation from Board members and CMA staff.  

The Howard County Arts Council will once again honor the local arts community's brightest stars at its signature event, the Celebration of the Arts in Howard County! Presented by Howard Bank, the Celebration gala will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 6-10 pm at the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College.

To add to their stellar season of plays, South Bend Civic presented The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. This play about a fifteen year-old English boy going on an investigation to discover who committed the murder of his neighbor's dog, is an extremely well-crafted and witty script that has not been tackled in South Bend until this year. Christopher, the main-character, also happens to be on the autism spectrum, leading to other causalities and dilemmas between the adults in his life. The whole show helps the audience experience the perspective of Christopher in his endeavors.

With fine support given her by Musical Director, Phil Hoff and Bass Player Mary Ann McSweeney, Lemon moved easily from hit song to hit song giving us the history of Froman's career, life, faith, and the perseverance that her faith instilled in her in the face of life-threatening adversity. Valerie's love of her subject and the care she gave each tune in her program are what put her show over.

Last night in the heart of the Theatre District, Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, hosted its annual New York City Benefit, BSC/NYC to celebrate its 25th Anniversary Season. The Country Music Association has announced the nominees for the 2019 CMA Touring Awards, which highlight vital behind-the-scenes members of the touring industry. Final voting for the 2019 CMA Touring Awards opens Thursday, Nov. 7 and closes Wednesday, Nov. 20. This year's Touring Awards will take place Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Nashville's Marathon Music Works.
