Noel Paul Stookey Continues Lifetime of Social Activism With JUST CAUSES Compilation

Noel Paul Stookey, better known as the “Paul” of the seminal 1960s folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary, continues to embrace his role as an elder statesman of what was once referred to as “protest music.” On March 22, Neworld Multimedia will release JUST CAUSES, a carefully curated compilation of 15 Stookey tracks, each bearing a theme of social concern.

New Federal Theatre Virtual Reading Of THE MEETING

The play, whose premiere was presented by NFT in 1987, is an imaginary encounter between Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X in 1965 in a hotel in Harlem. Differing in their philosophies but alike in their mutual respect, the two men debate their varying approaches to the same grave social problems. Both are prepared to die for their beliefs but neither is aware of how soon assassins' bullets await them. The play was televised on American Playhouse in 1989.

The play was later televised on American Playhouse in 1989. Cast includes: Marquan Denby as MLK and Keith Queener as Malcolm X. Performances are streaming on February 12th & 13th. PCPA InterPlay Returns With Four New Play Readings

PCPA brings back InterPlay readings from February 26 through March 20 - with four new plays, each being read twice over the course of four weekends. The readings are all live streamed via Zoom. The series includes The Mountaintop, Into the Breeches!, Two Degrees, and Fade. Performances are 7pm Fridays and 1:30pm on Saturdays. $10 per viewer or $40 for all four.

Raleigh Little Theatre Announces Programming Through June

After almost one full year of limited operations due to COVID-19, Raleigh Little Theatre presses forward and announces its plans for the remainder of the 2020-21 season. The theatre will utilize its outdoor performance venue, the Louise “Scottie” Stephenson Amphitheatre, to safely welcome back audiences in the spring and summer for a mix of family and adult programming and special events.
