Westport Country Playhouse will stage a new adaption of the classic suspense thriller of blackmail and revenge, “Dial M for Murder,” July 11 through July 29.

Westport Country Playhouse has announced that its board of trustees has approved and begun implementing a comprehensive plan to ensure that the historic theater is able to continue to operate and overcome recent financial challenges. The transformation plan, entitled “Reimagined: Save Your Playhouse,” includes new and exciting programming for a broad audience, a major fundraising campaign, and a more sustainable and efficient cost structure.

Westport Country Playhouse will participate in “Connecticut Open House Day” on Saturday, June 10, from 1 to 4 p.m., offering an admission-free, fun atmosphere with self-guided backstage tours, set model and costume displays, kids' activities, music, food trucks, and beer tastings. In addition, the Playhouse box office will be open during the open house for special, day-of/in person-only single ticket discounts.

Hedgerow Theatre announced both a one-week extension and a virtual streaming option of the company's Barrymore Recommended world premiere production of The Puzzle by Juliette Dunn.

Mark Lamos will step down as Westport Country Playhouse artistic director after 15 seasons, effective January 15, 2024.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a musical concert, “Ari Axelrod - A Place for Us: A Celebration of Jewish Broadway,” on Monday, May 15, at 7 p.m. The internationally acclaimed, award-winning show honors the songs, stories, and contributions to American musical theater by Jewish composers, such as Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Carole King. Tickets are $25.

André DeShields, Tony Award® winner for “Hadestown” and original Broadway cast member of “Ain’t Misbehavin’”: The Fats Waller Musical,” will be the guest at Westport Country Playhouse’s Sunday Symposium, following the 3 p.m. matinee performance of “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” on Sunday, April 16.

Broadway legend Patti LuPone will take the stage at Westport Country Playhouse for one-night-only, in her solo show, “Don’t Monkey with Broadway,” on Thursday, June 15, at 8 p.m.

Westport Country Playhouse's Family Festivities will bring the popular children's book character, Pete the Cat, to its stage in the musical, “Pete's Big Hollywood Adventure,” on Sunday, February 26, at 1 and 4 p.m. Produced by TheaterWorksUSA, the show is based on the “Pete the Cat” series of books by Kimberly and James Dean.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of Theresa Rebeck's thriller, “Mauritius,” on Monday, March 13, at 7 p.m., directed by the playwright herself. The play's title refers to the island of Mauritius, the origin of two extremely valuable, rare stamps that incite a conflict to gain their possession.

Bonjour Mon Amour written by Richard Hackley will get an invite-only industry presentation on February 16. It will be directed by Jamibeth Margolis, with musical direction by Andrew Wheeler.

Yale Repertory Theatre will start the second half of its 2022–23 season with Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles by Luis Alfaro, directed by Laurie Woolery, March 10–April 1 at the University Theatre.

In the spirit of the holiday season, Westport Country Playhouse Radio Theater, a free-of-charge broadcast series, will reprise the inventive audio play, “A Merry Little Christmas Carol,” airing on WSHU Radio on Saturday, December 24, at 6:06 p.m. (following the national news), with a rebroadcast on Sunday, December 25, at 1:06 p.m.

Westport Country Playhouse has named Erika K. Wesley to a new, full-time position titled director of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). She will provide strategic and operational leadership of all EDI policies, programs, training, and practices for the Playhouse.
