Review: THE AMEN CORNER at Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock

Who knew going to church could be this dramatic? Well, maybe we all had a hunch, but Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock is taking Central Arkansas to church, both literally and figuratively, now through August 24th with The Amen Corner by the legendary James Baldwin.

Charter Oak Cultural Center and Immanuel Congregational Church has announced a one-time-only reading of author and activist James Baldwin's first stage play The Amen Corner. The reading, under the direction of acclaimed theatre artist taneisha duggan, will be on Sunday, February 23 at 3pm at Immanuel Congregational Church, located at 10 Woodland Street in Hartford.

Union Celebrates Black History with James Baldwin's THE AMEN CORNER

The Mayor and Committee of the Township of Union will be hosting their 3rd Annual Black History Month Celebration on Saturday, February 24th with a staged reading of the acclaimed play The Amen Corner by James Baldwin. The Guthrie Theater today announced the full cast and creative team for The Sunshine Boys-acclaimed Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and screenwriter Neil Simon's sidesplitting comedy. Directed by Gary Gisselman (A Christmas Carol, Lost in Yonkers), The Sunshine Boys will feature Guthrie favorites Raye Birk (Faith Healer, Third) and Peter Michael Goetz (1776, The Government Inspector) as Al Lewis and Willie Clark, respectively, a pair of crabby, retired vaudeville comedians persuaded to reunite after 11 years apart - despite the fact that they hate each other. When these seasoned stage partners are convinced to reunite for a CBS television comedy special, hilarity ensues. The New York Times called The Sunshine Boys "an evening that keeps you laughing and then leaves you surprisingly moved." The production also features a special cameo from renowned improvisational comedian and Brave New Workshop founder Dudley Riggs as Sketch Patient.
