New Village Arts Presents DESERT ROCK GARDEN

New Village Arts (NVA), North County's cultural hub, is presenting the world premiere of DESERT ROCK GARDEN February 11 to March 13, 2022. The production is a fictionalized historical story about a young orphan and a Japanese immigrant who forge a friendship in the Topaz War Relocation Center in 1943, revealing the inherent human ability to transform nothing — loneliness and barren desert — into something long-lasting and precious.

HARLEM DUET, now streaming from Coronado Playhouse is an apt name for this beautiful, and heartbreaking play.  In a “prequel” to Shakespeare’s OTHELLO, the play follows one couple in the 1860s, 1928, and in modern Harlem. It explores how echoes of the same old songs of racism, privilege, and relationships can be heard throughout history and into the modern-day. Streaming through April 18th

SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE Comes to New Village Arts

New Village Arts is pleased to announce the upcoming production of SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE: THE SONGS OF LEIBER & STOLLER, a celebration of iconic American songwriting partners Jerry Leiber and Michael Stoller, who wrote some of the most timeless rock-n-roll songs of the 1950s. The production is directed by Tony Houck, with choreography from Michael Mizerany.
