Put together two super actor/singers to perform The Songs Of Kander & Ebb and it's like Mantle and Maris hitting back to back homers in the world series. Oops, I promised myself I would avoid the Baseball references, however watching Haley Swindal you cannot help but wonder how this enormously talented lady became such an exciting entertainer coming from a sports/business family. Then again, George Steinbrenner did create exciting entertainment for millions with the Yankee franchise and he was also an avid fan and investor in Broadway shows.

Marvelous Marilyn Maye returns to perform on the esteemed Feinstein's/54 Below stage with a mix of Great American Songbook standards and a sprinkling of holiday music to welcome the start of the holiday season.

Celebrate New Year's Eve at Feinstein's/54 Below as two beloved stars return to Broadway's Supper Club to usher in the new year: Actor, playwright, and award-winning cabaret artist, Charles Busch (Die Mommie Die, Psycho Beach Party, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife), and the Broadway, film, and television star Aaron Tveit (Catch Me If You Can, Next to Normal, Les Miserables).

You know that Jason Danieley is a Broadway star (Candide, Full Monty, South Pacific, The Visit,) and soon to be returning to Broadway in Pretty Woman. You know that his concert career brings him into your home on Television with PBS Great Performances and Live from Lincoln Center. You know he performs with the country's leading orchestras. But do you know that Jason Danieley is also one of the most exciting night club performers capable of using his enormous musical and acting talent to bring to the intimate space of a cabaret an experience that harks back to the golden age of night club performances by the likes of Vic Damone, Jack Jones, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin?

Last night at Feinstein's/54 Below the audience 'Didn't fill up on the Antipasto' as notated on the special Tony Danza Menu. However, it did fill up on the great entertainment produced by the charming song and dance man who is known by millions for his starring roles in two of television's most successful long running series, 'Taxi' and 'Who's The Boss.'

Back in the day Frank Sinatra refused to sing in New York City nightclubs because the NYPD required you to be fingerprinted if you worked in a cabaret.  Luckily that law doesn't exist today because I'm sure Robert Davi would have also thumbed his nose at NYC and we would not have heard his tribute show to Sinatra at Feinstein's/54 Below last night.   There are lots of singers who sing 'like' Frank and recreate some great music, but with Davi you get the same exhilaration in the room that Sinatra generated.  

Groove With Me's annual benefit, Tap & Tapas, will take place on Wednesday, April 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will include a walk around tasting of New York's top chefs and restaurants. The night will also include special performances by Groove With Me dancers and award-winning dancer and choreographer Jason Samuels Smith. Tickets start at $200. The event is located at SECOND at 849 6th Ave at 29th St.

One music legend came to hear another last night.  Clive Davis was in Michael Feinstein's opening night audience as the Ambassador of the Great American Songbook brought the show-stopping songs of Broadway to his second home… Feinstein's/54 Below.  

You didn't have to know French to understand that Christine Andreas created the magic of Edith Piaf last night au-dessous de Rue 54.

Feinstein's/54 Below is a a chameleon of a performance space because of the eclectic mix of entertainment that perform on it's stage. Broadway is the main theme but sometimes it becomes one of the great nightclubs of the 50's & 60's like Basin Street East, The Embers, The Persian Room etc. 

Laura Osnes ('Bandstand,' 'Cinderella'), Taylor Louderman ('Kinky Boots,' 'Bring It On: The Musical'), and Desi Oakley ('Wicked,' 'Evita') sang 'The Princess Power Medley,' arranged by musical director Benjamin Rauhala at Feinstein's/54 Below's 5th Anniversary Celebration on June 5th, 2017.
