Some leading thinkers on the subject of obesity and its related consequences will gather at Long Wharf Theatre in January 24-25 to discuss this health epidemic at its 5th annual Global Health and the Arts Symposium, led by Event Chair David Scheer, president of Scheer & Company and a member of Long Wharf Theatre's Board of Trustees, and Co-Chair Kelly Brownell, director of Yale's Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity.

Magic Theatre is thrilled to welcome back renowned playwright Octavio Solis for the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of Se Llama Cristina, directed by Producing Artistic Director Loretta Greco and running January 23 - February 17. After the Magic Theatre production, the rolling world premiere will continue with productions at Kitchen Dog Theatre in Dallas, TX and at The Theater @ Boston Court in Pasadena, CA.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, continues its 47th Anniversary season, themed Spirited Away, with the world premiere of TEA, WITH MUSIC. Book and lyrics are by acclaimed playwright Velina Hasu Houston, music by Nathan Wang and choreographed by Giovanni Ortega. This production is directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera. The musical features Joan Almedilla (Miss Saigon, Les Miserables), Tiffany-Marie Austin (Miss Saigon, A Little Night Music), Yumi Iwama (Our Town, South Pacific), Jennie Kwan (TV's California Dreams, Avenue Q), and Janet Song (Twelfth Night, Medea).
Victory Gardens Announces MOJADA, Beginning July 12, 2013

Victory Gardens Theater announces the world premiere of Mojada by VG Associate Artist Luis Alfaro as its final play of the 2012-2013 season. Mojada will replace Ensemble Playwright Marcus Gardley's previously announced Chicago is Burning. Mojada will run July 12-August 11, 2013, and Press Opening will be Monday, July 22, 2013 at 7:30pm.

This spring, Goodman Theatre broadens the scope of its Latino Theatre Festival, an event that has introduced more than 160,000 Chicagoans to prominent Latino theater companies around the globe-from Spain to Mexico to Brazil-for the past decade. "The only job of the artist is to keep changing," Luis Alfaro, playwright of Victory Gardens' recent success Oedipus El Rey, told a room full of theater practitioners at a recent workshop in Chicago. His words especially resonated with Executive Director and newly minted Ensemble member Alexandra Meda of Teatro Luna, a company whose leadership transitions in recent years have evolved into a new organizational structure infused with lots of new blood. A company which has built its niche in autobiographical and ethnographic ensemble-devised work, Teatro Luna is no stranger to change and responding to challenges on its feet. In that spirit, Chicago's all-Latina theatre company bursts into its 12th season with the induction of a slew of new Latina talent.
