The Old Globe continues to make theatre matter to more people by inviting everyone to enjoy three unique productions of original work developed through coLAB, a program developed by the Department of Arts Engagement. coLAB unites community and artists to develop unique participatory theatre. Having the perspective of participants at the forefront of the storytelling experience is central to this artistic collaboration. Community members work with an artist over several months developing stories. The culmination of the work is a presentation with a community partner organization of a public performance and celebration. These productions take on many forms but always feature the stories and perspectives of the participants.
Skidmore Theater is pleased to announce its Fall Black Box Production, The Harvest by Samuel D. Hunter, directed by artist-in-residence John Michael DiResta. Samuel D. Hunter is a contemporary playwright of such acclaimed plays as The Whale and A Bright New Boise, with The Harvest premiering in 2016 at Lincoln Center Theater. The New York Times praises, 'Mr. Hunter always handles his characters with the sensitivity of a gifted sculptor, or maybe a master whittler who shapes each with a razor-sharp knife.'
Aurora Theatre Company continues its dynamic 28th season with the Bay Area Premiere of Bryna Turner's BULL IN A CHINA SHOP. Newly appointed Associate Artistic Director Dawn Monique Williams will direct this romantic comedy about bravery and revolution at the height of the women's suffrage movement.
Art House Productions has announced the 2019-2020 cohort of its INKubator Program. INKubator is a year-long generative process for a select group of 6 playwrights in residence at Art House Productions. This year's playwrights are Kev Berry, J. Julian Christopher, Alyssa Haddad, Christopher-Rashee Stevenson, Leila Teitelman, and Colin Waitt.
Pacific Conservatory Theatre Resident Artist Emily Trask takes on an additional role as Literary Associate and Hurlbert Fellow. Trask joined PCPA in 2018 and has appeared in recent productions of Peter Pan, Shakespeare in Love, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and The Importance of Being Earnest, and teaches Shakespeare I and Actor's Lab in PCPA's Conservatory.

With just over 2,500 ballots cast in the first week of voting in the 'Great Society Primary' at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on Broadway, theatergoers of The Great Society overwhelmingly chose Senator Elizabeth Warren as the Democratic presidential candidate with 36% of the vote, followed by Vice President Joe Biden (17%), Mayor Pete Buttigieg (15%), Senator Kamala Harris (6%) and Senator Bernie Sanders (6%). As the Republican presidential candidate, theatergoers chose President Donald Trump (4%) over Governor Bill Weld (2%) and Congressman Joe Walsh (0.5%).
