On Sunday, October 27th, Theatre West presented a beautiful new addition to the urban art landscape in Los Angeles with the unveiling of local artist Levi Ponce's latest mural featuring Judy Garland. Painted in full color and pictured with the Emerald City behind her, the portrait immortalizes one of the most beloved singers of all time in her signature role - Dorothy Gale from the classic 1939 MGM musical, THE WIZARD OF OZ.
Spike Dolomite Ward, Executive Director of Theatre West, announced the addition of Kiki Ebsen's theatrical tribute to her father, entertainer Buddy Ebsen, is set for three nights this fall, October 12-14, 2018. S.E. Feinberg will direct the touching tribute "TO DAD WITH LOVE: A TRIBUTE TO BUDDY EBSEN,"and is co-produced by Kiki Ebsen, her brother, Dustin Ebsen, and associate producer Linda L. Rand. Ward noted that Today's performance is a fund-raiser for nonprofit Theatre West, the internationally acclaimed oldest continually operating theatre company in Los Angeles. On October 12-14, Theatre West hosts "To Dad with Love: A Tribute to Buddy Ebsen," starring Kiki Ebsen.Accompanied by four of Los Angeles' premiere jazz musicians, Kiki shares the story of Buddy Ebsen's seven-decade entertainment career through songs, poignant stories, and Dustin Ebsen's media montage that details her father's life.
In TO DAD WITH LOVE, A TRIBUTE TO BUDDY EBSEN; Kiki Ebsen pays tribute to her father in the best way she knows how - singing and story-telling. Kiki graciously walked me through some of her vivid memories of growing up the child of a famous father, a most popular figure of 1960s television, known to weekly TV viewers as Jed Clampett of The Beverly Hillbillies.
