Lily Tung Crystal, Co-Founder and Founding Artistic Director of Ferocious Lotus Theatre Company, will be stepping down from her nine-year position in August to become the new Artistic Director at Theater Mu in the Twin Cities. Ferocious Lotus will be appointing a new artistic director later this summer. To support Ferocious Lotus and the new artistic director through this transition, Crystal will continue as the company's Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus.

Primary Stages announced today the selections for ESPA Drills 2019, a developmental play program that provides staged readings to four playwrights selected by blind submission, for scripts developed at Primary Stages ESPA. Presented by Primary Stages Einhorn School of Performing Arts (ESPA), the plays are workshopped under the guidance of the Primary Stages ESPA staff. All readings are free and open to the public and will be held at The Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street) on Monday, April 1 and Monday, April 8, 2019.

Primary Stages is currently presenting God Said This, written by Leah Nanako Winkler (Two Mile Hollow) and directed by Morgan Gould (Kentucky). The show celebrated its opening last night, January 29, for a run through February 15, 2019 at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St, New York, NY, 10014). 

Ako has been on screen with the likes of Jennifer Aniston and John Hurt, toured in musical productions and appeared in many regional theatre staples. Now she returns to the New York stage in God Said This.

Cygnet Theatre announces the line up for The Finish Line - A Bill and Judy Garrett Commission. The 2019 playwrights include Leah Nanako Winkler, Kate Hamill and Herbert Siguenza. Free public readings of all three plays will take place Feb. 17 - 18, 2019 at Cygnet Theatre. 

PAGE 73 PRODUCTIONS has named Sanaz Toossi the 2019 Page 73 Playwriting Fellow. Selected from nearly 400 applicants, Toossi will receive a $10,000 award and an additional $10,000 budgeted for developing several new plays over the course of the year.

PRIMARY STAGES announces its complete 2019/20 Season, celebrating its 35th anniversary.

PRIMARY STAGES will present two public "read-a-longs" of Leah Nanako Winkler's Kentucky, a companion piece to her play God Said This, later this month. Presented by Primary Stages, God Said This begins performances at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St) on January 16, 2019, with an opening night set for January 29, for a limited run through February 15, 2019.
