The Met HD Opera Series' DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE comes to Theatre West Virginia in June. The event is on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 12:55 PM - 2:55 PM.

The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts, presents Mozart's DIE ZAUBERFLOTE on Saturday, June 3 at 12:55 pm ET, in the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre.

The Harlem Chamber Players will mark its 15th Anniversary and Black Music Month with a musical extravaganza Harlem Songfest II, celebrating Black opera singers and the music of Black composers, including women, on Friday, June 9, at 7 p.m. at Miller Theatre at Columbia University.

Of all the theatre directors that the Met has marshalled into its forces, Simon McBurney--who brought his version of Mozart’s DIE ZAUBERFLOTE (THE MAGIC FLUTE) to the Met on Friday in his house debut--may be the most successful in melding music and theatre, storytelling and visual elements.

 In Composing the Future, a documentary now streaming for free on the Opera Philadelphia Channel, the company looks back on how that reputation was earned through the company's unique Composer in Residence program, which launched in 2011 as the nation's first comprehensive training program for artists wanting to learn how to write an opera. 

The final Live in HD broadcast of the Met Opera’s 2022-2023 season is approaching! Die Zauberflöte (Mozart) comes to the big screen of the Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 1pm as part of the FirstLight Home Care Classical Series. 

San Francisco Opera announced the program for its 100th Anniversary Concert at the War Memorial Opera House on Friday, June 16. Caroline H. Hume Music Director Eun Sun Kim, former Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles and former Principal Guest Conductor Patrick Summers will conduct the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus along with a host of star soloists in selections inspired by the Company's history.

Washington National Opera has announced two new appointments that will oversee the newly defined Artistic and Production departments.

Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (May 19–June 10), one of opera's most beloved works, receives its first new Met staging in 19 years from acclaimed English director Simon McBurney. In his Met debut, McBurney lets loose a volley of theatrical flourishes, incorporating projections, aerial and sound effects, physical comedy, a hovering platform, and acrobatics to match the spectacle and drama of Mozart's work. Maestro Nathalie Stutzmann—having made her Met debut earlier this season with Don Giovanni—performs Mozart double duty leading both productions running simultaneously. With the pit raised, the Met Orchestra musicians will interact with the cast. Gareth Morrell conducts the May 27 performance.

The Metropolitan Opera will close out its 2022–23 season with Don Giovanni, starting May 5, and Die Zauberflöte, starting May 19. Nathalie Stutzmann will make her Met debut as conductor of both works, with Ivo van Hove directing Don Giovanni and Simon McBurney staging Die Zauberflöte—also both making their Met debuts.

The Met presents the winners of the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition: tenor Anthony León, mezzo-soprano Natalie Lewis, soprano Teresa Perrotta, mezzo-soprano Sarah Saturnino, bass-baritone Christian Simmons, and soprano Meredith Wohlgemuth.

Acclaimed Tenor Lawrence Brownlee treated his audience, at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater, with an afternoon of engaging, sensitive vocal interpretations of some of the world’s most talented African American composers.  This invigorating program, entitled Rising, increased in vocal nuance, and beautifully intonated clarity as it ran the gamut of spiritual, romantic, jazzy, contemplative, and socially conscious original compositions by this illustrious and very talented roster of creative composers.

Wigmore Hall's 2023/24 season was announced by John Gilhooly, the Hall's Director. With more than 500 concerts from September 2023 to July 2024 featuring some 2500 artists performing music from the past six centuries, it is the largest programme of classical music concerts in the UK. 

The 20 opera singers who have won regional auditions across the United States, Canada, and Mexico will compete in the semifinal round of the Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition on Monday, April 17, beginning at 10AM ET.
