BWW Spotlight Series: Meet Multi-Talented Triple-Threat Actor John Devereaux

This Spotlight focuses on John Devereaux, a multi-talented triple-threat actor who I shared the stage with in Little Shop of Horrors at the Westchester Playhouse a year after he arrived in Los Angeles from Houston, and who has gone on to charm audiences across the country in touring productions of Rent and Hamilton. John also appeared locally in Dreamgirls at the Pasadena Playhouse, Spamilton at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, and during the Hollywood Fringe Festival in the world premiere of Recorded in Hollywood, among many other productions. I was longing forward to seeing him take the stage in Hamilton at the Pantages Theatre soon, but unfortunately the national tour in which he was appearing had to shut down along with the rest of the world's theaters. So what's he up to now?

BWW Spotlight Series: Meet Composer, Conductor, Lyricist, and Producer Christopher Raymond

This Spotlight focuses on composer, conductor, lyricist, and producer Christopher Raymond who has won an NAACP, Stage Raw and Broadway World Awards for his work in theatre. Chris has also music directed several Los Angeles area awards shows as well as 14 productions with DOMA Theatre Company in Hollywood, among many others. And in December 2018, he became Music Director for Valley Outreach Synagogue in Calabasas where Passover and Shabbat services are being LiveStreamed from home.

Last week, Center Theatre Group announced the postponement of several upcoming productions in its 2020 season. Today, the company released a video sharing a glimpse in the life when their facilities are in operation.

The Ojai Playwrights Conference is postponing their previously announced benefit celebration, a?oeImagining America,a?? scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2020, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City.

Vineyard Theatre Suspends DANA H. Performances Through March 31

Vineyard Theatre has announced that starting tomorrow, Friday, March 13  all performances of Dana H. will be suspended through March 31. The theatre will play to 50% capacity April 1 - 12. This is in accordance with guidelines from the CDC and state and local health officials' executive orders.  

All CTGLA Theatre Closed

It was announced today Center Theater Group has cancelled all performances. The Book of Mormon, The Antipodes, and Block Party at the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Kirk Douglas Theatre will immediately cease operations to help lessen the spread of the virus.

Casting is set for Sacred Fools Theater Company's production of a?oeThe Art Couple,a?? which will be performed at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of Center Theatre Group's fourth annual Block Party: Celebrating Los Angeles Theatre. Written by Brendan Hunt and directed by Lauren Van Kurin,

THE NIGHT BUSTER KEATON DREAMED ME to Have West Coast Premiere at 24th Street Theatre

24th Street Theatre finds color in the lives of two orphan girls living in a silent film world of black, white and varying shades of gray. Debbie Devine directs the West Coast premiere of Kerry Muir's magical, surreal, dream-like movie-within-a play, The Night Buster Keaton Dreamed Me, for an April 11 opening. Performances will continue through May 31, with low-priced previews taking place March 28 through April 5.

Cast Announced For Annie Baker's THE ANTIPODES At The Mark Taper Forum

The cast is set for Pulitzer-winning playwright Annie Baker's sharp new comedy, a?oeThe Antipodes,a?? at the Mark Taper Forum March 25 through April 26, 2020. Directed by Machel Ross based on Lila Neugebauer's original direction of the world premiere at Signature Theatre, leads the Center Theatre Group production opens April 1. 

Vineyard Theatre's DANA H. Extends Until April 11

Vineyard Theatre Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce that New York Times Critic's Pick, Dana H., by Lucas Hnath, adapted from interviews with Dana Higginbotham conducted by Steve Cosson, and directed by Les Waters, has extended for the second time and will now play at the Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th St.) through Saturday, April 11. The production, which stars Deirdre O'Connell in the title role, made its New York premiere on Tuesday, February 25.

Full Cast Announced for ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO¹S NEST

A star-studded cast including some of Australia's most celebrated television, film and theatre performers will join already announced Lachy Hulme and Roz Hammond in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, to be staged at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne for a strictly limited season from 23 May.
