Northern Ireland Opera today announces the main cast for the critically-acclaimed national opera company’s stunning new adaptation of Giuseppe Verdi’s tragic love story, directed by Artistic Director Cameron Menzies, opening at Belfast’s Grand Opera House this September.

Production photos are released today for the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre co-production of the award-winning play The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri).

The show will mark the fourth Main House production of the Lyric's reopening season following the critically acclaimed production of Out West, the upcoming community play Heart of Hammersmith celebrating West London stories (12-14 August) and the summer family classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show (17 to 28 August).

The company today also announces the full cast and tour dates for Seiriol Davies' Milky Peaks.

The Abbey Theatre presents Come on Home by Phillip McMahon (Town is Dead, RIOT), directed by Rachel O'Riordan (Artistic Director Sherman Theatre) on the Peacock Stage from 13 July - 4 August.

Whatsonstage.com is reporting that the stage adaptation of the Shawshank Redemption, which opened just a few months ago on September 13 at the Wyndham's Theater in the West End, has posted an early closing notice. The production will play through its 100th performance on November 29. Initially, booking had been open through February 2010.

Based on the Stephen King novella that also inspired the 1994 movie version of 'Shawshank', the plot centers on the friendship two men develop over their time as inmates in a notoriously tough prison.
