Whatsonstage.com is reporting that the stage adaptation of the Shawshank Redemption, which opened just a few months ago on September 13 at the Wyndham's Theater in the West End, has posted an early closing notice.  The production will play through its 100th performance on November 29.  Initially, booking had been open through February 2010.

According to the report, producers are planning an expansive 2010 tour of the production, which will end in Dublin where the play premiered at the Gaiety Theatre on May 14th and ran until June 20th.

Based on the Stephen King novella that also inspired the 1994 movie version of "Shawshank", the plot centers on the friendship two men develop over their time as inmates in a notoriously tough prison.

The Shawshank Redemption is adapted by comics Owen O'Neill and Dave Johns from Stephen King's 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.  The comic was made into the wildly successful 1994 Hollywood film The Shawshank Redemption starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.

The production was directed by Peter Sheridan, with set and costume design by Ferdia Murphy, sound by Denis Clohessy and lights by Kevin Treacy.

American actors Kevin Anderson and Reg E Cathey lead the 20 member cast.
