Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) and MET ensemble members Sarah Shulman and Thom Huenger bring to life their spin on Greek Tragedy with a rocking performance of Oedipus Rox, sponsored by Kohl Building Products. The story of a man destined to fail will be on the Main Stage for four weeks opening April 8 and running to May 1 (Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.) There will be an 8pm "pay what you can" preview  performance on April 7.

ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE is a musical treatment of the true story of Patsy Cline's friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger.  As Louise's delightful storytelling paints the picture of their friendship, Patsy sings 28 of the tunes that made her famous, including-Anytime, Walkin' After Midnight, She's Got You, Sweet Dreams, and Crazy--to name a few.  The show combines humor, sadness and reality. It offers fans who remember Cline while she was alive a chance to look back, while giving new fans an idea of what hearing her was like and what she meant to her original fans. Patsy Cline was the break-through singer for women in country music and an amazing cross-over artist who set a lifetime standard in a very short career.

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra presents Gershwin's Magic Key on Sunday, October 25 at 4:00pm at the Michigan Theater. The musical story tells of a chance meeting on the streets of New York City between a poor newspaper boy and the great American composer, George Gershwin. The orchestra magically weaves Gershwin's greatest hits into the drama as the master composer shares historical anecdotes about his life and musical passion. This Sunday August 23, 2015 at 7pm, The Last Hurrah is going back to school! Join your host Kevin Cole and a panel of comedians as they lean into grade school nostalgia. Everything from fire drills to government subsidized school lunches will be provided. It's all of the school with none of the work or education, just free comedy and one last chance to pick on the new kid (that's a major no-no, don't pick on the new kid unless you want ten demerits).

'Materialize' delves into the idea of social identity and examines the masks we as individuals wear on a daily basis. What masks do you wear? Do you feel at home in your skin or do others affect how you feel about yourself? 'Materialize' is an original piece presented as a collection of scenes told through puppetry. Inspired by and created from real-life stories, 'Materialize' explores how we grapple with identity, invisibility, objectification, dehumanization, and realization. Let your mask slide... you might see your true self appear.

Meanwhile, Ravinia, Grant Park and Three Oaks (MI) do summer concerts, and The Music Theatre Company announces its own surprise demise.

John Waters Politely Declines Maryland Theatre Ensemble's 'LAST HURRAH' Invitation

Local comedy show The Last Hurrah recently released a video in an attempt to bring filmmaker/author John Waters to Frederick. Without the help of bookers and inspired by John Water's recent book, Carsick, the crew of The Last Hurrah made an attempt to hitchhike to John Waters. And while no one in Frederick was willing to give them a ride, the video made its way to John Waters.

It's been 25 years since the cast and crew of The Last Hurrah gathered at the Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET), okay, maybe it's only been two weeks but it feels like 25 years. With (emotional) years of behind-the-scenes spats behind them, the original cast of "The Last Hurrah" will reunite in the MET's Greene Space on Sunday June 7th at 7pm.
