For years Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) has been home to The Comedy Pigs and a wide array of original comedy shows. With it's 21st season, MET is continuing to show their devotion to bringing laughter to Frederick with a new program: MET Comedy Night. Taking place every Friday at 8:30 p.m., audiences will be treated to incredible comedy from MET favorites like The Comedy Pigs, Oh Crit, The Last Hurrah and a plethora of guest performers from all over Maryland.
MET Comedy Night brings new consistency to Maryland Ensemble Theatre's comedy programing. If you need a place to laugh at the end of your week, you can find it at MET every single Friday night. Producer Kevin Cole couldn't be more excited for Comedy Night. "It's not just about bringing more comedy to MET's stage, it's also about strengthening our local comedy community. We invited Casually Dope (a long-form improv troupe from the Baltimore Improv Group) to perform last month and it was a blast! Where we once had improv groups within our own theatre working seperately, we're now seeing the start of some great collaborations and we want to make our audiences a part of that."
MET based groups are set to perform on a rotating schedule, with The Comedy Pigs performing on the first Friday and Saturday of each month, Oh Crit will take the stage on the third Friday and The Last Hurrah will close things out on the fourth Friday. The second Friday is set aside for guest performers like Casually Dope (Sept 14th) and The Quinn Fontaine Experience (Nov 9) as well as special projects from MET improvisers like Whosebumps: An Improvised Goosebumps Show (Oct 12).
MET Comedy Night runs every Friday at 8:30 p.m. through June 28, 2019. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744, online at
