Friends in Theater Company has announced the 2014 production Once on this Island. The one-night-only production will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and Western New York and is set to be Curtis Holbrook's directorial debut with the company. Once on this Island, one of contemporary theatre's best-loved musicals will be presented on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 7:30pm at the Lucille Lortel Theater (121 Christopher Street New York, NY 10014).
Good Theater announces the stars and cast for its 10th edition of Broadway at Good Theater. Performances will be Thursday 12/5 at 7:00 ($25), Friday 12/6 at 7:30 ($25), Saturday 12/7 at 3:00 ($25) & 7:30 ($30) and Sunday 12/8 at 2:00 ($30). This year the company will host Kenita R. Miller and Christopher A. Pecoraro as the Broadway headliners for the five concerts playing December 5-8.
The Arden Theatre opened their twenty-sixth season with a stellar production of PARADE. This musical takes place in 1913 and tells the story of Leo Frank who was accused of murdering a thirteen year old girl, Mary Phagan. This show grapples with the trial of Leo Frank, and the racial environment that surrounded the trial in Georgia. PARADE depicts the resentments and fears held by many Georgians during the early twentieth century. The Arden's production of PARADE, under the direction of Terrance Nolan, is powerful, thought provoking, and well executed.
Arden Theatre Company begins its 26th season of great stories with Parade, the musical with book by Alfred Uhry and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. Directed by Terrence J. Broadway and television actor Jason Kravits (Relatively Speaking, "The Practice") will host "Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music", a little over one week after what would have been Oscar Hammerstein II's 117th birthday, tonight, July 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street). The presentation will be preceded by a special outdoor BBQ Style dinner hosted by Hamilton's Grill Room beginning at 5:00 p.m.
