The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 11 awards granted from their Frank Young Fund for New Musicals(formerly known as the National Fund for New Musicals), and six awards granted from their Innovation & Exploration Fund.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon announced today that Weightless-the critically acclaimed rock opera by The Kilbanes, produced by Z Space and piece by piece productions-will play a limited engagement at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater (1127 Market St., San Francisco) April 30-May 12, 2019.

Today, The Ground Floor: Berkeley Rep's Center for the Creation and Development of New Work announces that it has selected 18 projects from more than 30 innovative artists for its third Summer Residency Lab. This June, as part of an extraordinary laboratory for collaboration, some of the nation's most prominent and promising writers, directors, and composers will unite at the Theatre's campus in West Berkeley for an intense four-week period to live, dine, and create new plays together. Dozens more local and out-of-town actors and directors will join The Ground Floor process, bringing the number of artists involved close to 100.

Lisa Steindler, Artistic Director of Z Space announced a collaboration between the world premiere of Hundred Days, a folk rock odyssey, and San Francisco's popular Noise Pop Festival. The Thursday, February 27 preview has been designated as a special performance to be included in the Noise Pop Festival lineup. Conceived and created by up-and-coming duo The Bengsons, Hundred Days redefines the concert as well as the musical theater experience. As part of San Francisco's favorite indie music, arts and film festival, the preview on February 27 comes days before the show's world premiere on Saturday, March 1. Hundred Days runs through April 6, 2014 at Z Space (450 Florida Street, San Francisco).

Produced by Z Space, piece by piece productions and Encore Theatre Company, Hundred Days tells the fierce, triumphant story of a young couple who falls in love, only to have their time together cut short by illness. To fully capture the most of their final 100 days together, the couple decides to live the next three months as though they were six decades as they imagine the life they would share together. Redefining the concert as well as the musical theater experience, this project resonates with the Z Space mission to experiment, re-invent and stretch boundaries. Directed by Obie Award winner, Anne Kauffman, Hundred Days presents a touching journey about love, loss, and life, leaving audiences wondering how they might spend their last hundred days. The Ford's Theatre 2013-2014 season continues with the musical Violet, directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun (Broadway'sNewsies), January 24-February 23, 2014. Violet features a dynamic score of bluegrass, gospel, country and rock music by four-time Tony Award-nominated composer Jeanine Tesori (the recent Fun Home; Broadway's Caroline, or Change;Thoroughly Modern Millie; Shrek the Musical). The Ford's production stars a first-class Washington cast led by Erin Driscoll in the title role.
