The Dallas Opera Cancels Spring 2021 Operas, Announces New 2021/2022 Season

Ian Derrer, The Dallas Opera’s Kern Wildenthal General Director and CEO, announced today that extreme and ongoing COVID 19 concerns are forcing the company to cancel its March and April 2021 subscription performances, with full-scale operas in the Winspear Opera House resuming in February and March of 2022 in a brand-new 2021/2022 Season.

The first opera in Ooppera Baletti's autumn repertoire will be Covid fan tutte, featuring soprano Karita Mattila and conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen. The new libretto to the score of Mozarta's Così fan tutte will be written by Minna Lindgren.

Canadian Opera Company To Stream HADRIAN In Free, One-Night-Only Presentation

For the first time ever, audiences around the world will have a special opportunity to watch the Canadian Opera Company's 2018 world premiere production of Hadrian, in full, online. On Monday, August 10 at 6:30 p.m. ET, in partnership with Montréal Pride Festival, the COC is hosting a free, one-night-only digital stream of the modern grand opera. The Hadrian Watch Party helps kick off one week of virtual Pride events and will feature a live Q&A session with both the composer and celebrated singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright and librettist Daniel MacIvor, a giant in Canadian theatre.
