Free Outdoor Event Will Celebrate Duke Ellington and National Tap Dance Day This Month

Duke Ellington will be celebrated on Sunday, May 21 from 2-4pm with the return of a FREE, annual outdoor concert commemorating the jazz great's birthday. This year's event, at the Duke Ellington Statue, 5th Avenue and 110th Street in Manhattan's Harlem neighborhood, will also celebrate National Tap Dance Day, which takes place yearly on May 25, the birthday of tap legend Bill Bojangles Robinson.

Live, in-person tap dance workshops, performances and special events herald the return of Tap City, the NYC Tap Festival, the American Tap Dance Foundation's week-long tap festival Monday, July 4 through Sunday, July 10 right in in tap’s hometown, New York City. The TAP CITY Festival week, celebrating its 22nd year, will return LIVE for the first time since the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic - in 2020 Tap City was virtual, and in 2021 hybrid.

New Jersey Tap Ensemble presents Homecoming 25, a concert performance recognizing the organization's 25th Anniversary, Sunday, January 13, 2019, 2pm at the Wilkins Theater on the campus of Kean University, 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ. Under the Artistic Direction of its founder, Deborah Mitchell, the company has become New Jersey's most prominent tap dance company promoting and preserving the art form of rhythm tap dancing.
