Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce that Charly Evon Simpson is the recipient of the 2019-20 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award. Ms. Simpson will be presented with the award at The Vineyard's annual Emerging Artists Luncheon on Monday, November 25 from noon-2:30pm at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, is delighted to announce the slate of plays that will be shared during our 18th annual National Showcase of New Plays. NNPN and Core Member Theater Actor's Express with the assistance of members Horizon Theatre Company and Synchronicity Theater will host the National Showcase of New Plays from December 6-8, 2019, presenting readings of six production-ready new plays to more than 150 NNPN Core and Associate Members, Affiliated Artists, and invited guests.

At the two-weekend festival, patrons will experience ground-breaking new works while participating in the creative process. Tickets to individual PlayFest readings ($10) may be purchased online at orlandoshakes.org, by phone at (407) 447-1700 ext. 1, or in person at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center (812 East Rollins Street). PlayFest Passes ($56) and PlayFest VIP Passes ($100) are on sale now and may be purchased by phone or in person.

This summer, the 21st Annual JAW: A Playwrights Festival brings three new plays to The Armory for two weeks of script workshopping that will culminate in the JAW Big Weekend, where public staged readings of the scripts will be presented along with performances from local artists and classes. This year's plays are What Are You Worth? by Kara Lee Korthron, an adaptation of Howards End by Caroline Hewitt, and Otto Frank by Roger Guenveur Smith.

William Inge Theatre Festival Tickets On Sale

Tickets are now on sale for the 38th annual William Inge Theater Festival, which will honor playwright Octavio Solis with the William Inge Distinguished Achievement in the American Theater Award.  The Inge Festival has been the official theater festival of Kansas since 2010. It runs May 22-25, 2019 and is produced by the William Inge Center for the Arts at Independence Community College, in the lovely town of Independence, in southeast Kansas.

The Board of Directors of Kansas City Repertory Theatre today announced that Dr. Eric Rosen, KCRep's Artistic Director, will be departing the organization to return to New York, where he will pursue other projects. The Board has named Associate Artistic Director Jason Chanos to Interim Artistic Director and is conducting a national search for a visionary artistic director. Chanos will partner with current Executive Director Angela Lee Gieras to lead the organization in the interim.
