Theatre East presents a live remote reading of Julia Rae Maldonado's LITTLE MACHINE. It's hilarious, it's tragic, it's wonderfully irreverent, and it includes song. Space... a Martian transport carrying secret government cargo is hijacked by the cutest assassin in the universe.

Tim Blake Nelson's powerful and soul-stirring play makes its return. Theatre East collaborated with Mr. Nelson on the New York premiere as part of its inaugural season just over 10 years ago and as the company looks to the future, they celebrate where they've been. Featuring Gene Jones (No Country for Old Men, The Hateful Eight, The Sacrament). Also featuring Corey Finzel, John D. Ivy, Lizzy Jarrett, Mikey McNulty, Oliver Palmer, Nick Piacente, Lauren Pisano, and Grayson Taylor.

In only it's second year, the Wet Paint - New Play Festival has managed to round up B'way veterans (Johanna Leister, Layan Elwazani), TV stars (Christopher Shyer, Rachel Handler), & Amazon Best-Selling authors (Edward Medina) to participate in a barebones development series of short-performances. This year's festival has a theme: Walls, and with that theme, Point-Blank Theatre Co. received a unique submission. William Hobbs, a member of Voices Inside, an inmate writing/theatre program at Northpoint Training Center in KY, submitted his play, A Spider's Web and was accepted among dozens of NYC playwright applicants.

Theatre East announces the five casts of the 2018-2019 5X5 Drama Series: Lara Americo, Cara Feuer, Corey Finzel, Raguel Gabriel, Sam Gonzalez, Olivia Hartshorn, Christa Kimlicko Jones, Monique 'Orisha Love' Letamendi, Edward Mawere, Owen Grayson Schiller, Kesley Sheppard, Emily Verla, and James Yuhas. The 5 directors at the helm are Christa Kimlicko Jones, Judson Jones, Chelsea B. Lockie, Caterina Nonis, and Graham Schmidt.

The 5X5 Drama Series was founded in 2016 to bring great new plays beyond the footlights and into nontraditional spaces like breweries, rooftops, and taverns to provide an immersive and unique audience experience. The 90-minute program consists of 5 short plays performed by 5 casts and is performed in all 5 boroughs. Fulfilling one of our core beliefs to make theatre more accessible to all, 5X5 brings the stage directly to the people in the spaces where they gather, learn and relax. The 5X5 Drama Series brings performances beyond the footlights and into non-traditional spaces in all five boroughs for a unique immersive audience experience. Theatre East is an official partner of NYC Pride, and this year's 5X5 Drama Series will feature original, commissioned work celebrating the LGBTQ community as we remember the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The play, set in present-day rural Tennessee, a group of broken, Pentecostal outcasts find solace, understanding, and strength in one another as they wrestle with their own serpents and discover their divinity.

The production will run at Urban Stages, 259 West 30th Street, from Friday, September 21st through Saturday, October 6th.

Set in modern-day Red Bank, Tennessee, PETIE is essentially a Greek tragedy and like the heroes of those classics, Bonnie is a sad portrait of proud thoughtlessness that corrodes over self-inflicted loathing.
