On May 5th at Rockwood Music Hall, the 'CompCord @ 40' festival will conclude with an electronic music event tilted: 'Ali Baba & the 40 Thieves'. Taking on this Arabic folk-tale, that uses the number 40 in its titled, CompCord challenged composers to make electronic music inspired by the story.
Enter Vancouver quartet Bend Sister, who dole out two kinds of motivation on their latest, double-A-sided single — a musical wake-up call for aspiring rockers and anybody else who needs a little bit of a fire lit under them just to take on the day.
Gwyneth Goes Skiing is headed to Edinburgh Fringe this August, and will also make its international premiere in Utah. Darren Criss will provide the singing voice of Terry Sanderson alongisde Edinburgh Comedy Award Winning comedian, actress and singer Cat Cohen, who will lend her voice as Gwyneth Paltrow.
Gwyneth Goes Skiing is a fun and delightfully queer show that has lots of hilarious audience participation and some great musical moments (even if it is a play with music). It is full of joy and some truly silly puns that had be groaning with a smile. I look forward to seeing more from Awkward Productions in the future!

An all new musical based on Gwyneth Paltrow's ski trial will have its premiere in London. In 2016, Paltrow collided with a retired optrometrist while skiing, which resulted in a trial that had the internet buzzing. Now, the trial is getting stage musical treatment.

It is unheard of for these types of laughs to be a constant for a show. But, somehow, Karp manages to achieve one of the funniest shows at the Fringe with just a PowerPoint presentation and a Cats costume of his own.
