After a tumultuous two years, theater has come back and with it, voices speaking up and out for the changes that are necessary in this industry. One artist, Nikisha Williams (Hamilton, The Color Purple), is taking things into her own hands and producing an evening of lifting the voices and souls that she knows and loves, and to show Broadway that it is both ok and vital to be proud of Blackness.

Tune in this weekend got Rev52's streamed concert of stunning music videos VIRTUALLY YOURS. The ladies of Revv will be joined by a special guest performer, the incredible baritone Jonathan Christopher who is a member of HAMILTON's national touring cast.

Tin Pan Alley 2, a free concert series featuring new musical theatre works, will present feature a panel of emerging writers on Friday, April 23rd, 2021 at 7:30pm ET.

The third installment of Encores! Inside the Revival features director Victoria Clark, Encores! Music Director Rob Berman and Consulting Producer for Musical Theater, and previous Encores! Artistic Director Jack Viertel as they revisit, Love Life a year later and discuss their process of imagining Kurt Weill and Alan Jay Lerner’s rarely seen 1948 musical. 

The semifinalists each performed three songs out of the nine genres of American music: Opera, Musical Theatre, Hollywood, Jazz, Folk, Country, Pop/Rock Singer-Songwriters (1980-today), Art Song, Gospel, Songs of Johnny Mercer, Blues, Religious Music, Popular Music of 1950-1980, Great American Songbook, and Cabaret.

Last evening, the American Traditions Vocal Competition (ATC) announced the group of talented vocalists selected by judges Kate Baldwin, Lawrence Brownlee, and Kurt Elling to progress to the Semifinal round of this year's virtual competition. 

The virtual event takes place on March 5, 2021 at 7 p.m. EST and is moderated by Aria Umezawa, Canadian stage director, consultant, and co-founder of Amplified Opera, the COC’s new Disruptor-in-Residence.

New York Theatre Barn will host a free live stream of its award-winning New Works Series on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021 at 7PM EST, featuring excerpts from the new musicals The Lesson and Nothing To See Here. The live 1-hour presentation will also feature a conversation with the writers and creative team. 

The Canadian Opera Company welcomes Toronto-based Amplified Opera to the COC Academy as part of the company’s newly developed Disruptor-in-Residence program. The two-year residency will offer resources and support to the emerging opera company during the critical transition period from start-up to established organization.

Stars of the stage and screen came together for a virtual performance of 'Six Feet Closer to You', a quarantine song written by Bryan Blaskie. The group includes performers from television, opera, and Broadway-including a Tony winner.

On The Quays is celebrating coming out while staying in!

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, City Center cancelled the remainder of its season due to the current health crisis. One production that was cancelled, was Love Life, which was set to run March 18 - 22, starring Kate Baldwin and Brian Stokes Mitchell. However, Jack Viertel, Encores! Artistic Director, has some promising news.
