What did our critic think of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE at Westport Community Theatre?

What did our critic think of THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES at Grant County Community Theater? I do love going to new-to-me theatres, so it was a special treat to head south to visit the Grant County Community Theater, 407 E Center St, in Sheridan, on Friday, Dec. 17, for THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES.

Stolen Shakespeare Guild will present Jane Austen’s “EMMA” written and adapted by Jon Jory. The production is scheduled to run December 1 – 17, 2023.

This year, after its first decade in the scrappy, 50-seat Little Theater on 19th Ave, and a big move in 2014 to becoming a resident company at 12th Avenue Arts, Washington Ensemble Theatre will celebrate its 20th Anniversary Season with the same commitment to artist agency and, in the words of founder Jennifer Zeyl, “excellent production of unlikely work”.

Multiple award-winning Fringe Veteran, Ben Moroski (Playwright/Actor), presented the World Premiere drama of DOG.  Directed by Jordan Shappell.  After a Sold Out run at the Broadwater Theatre, an additional Encore Performance has just been added, July 30, 2022, at 8:00PM   

The 5th Avenue Theatre will complete its 2021/22 Season with a musical radio play production of Wonder Boy, a moving and poignant new musical about a transgender man attempting to find a new normal in his identity.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will present Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner August Wilson’s sweeping drama Gem of the Ocean. This seminal classic will be directed by Artistic Director Tim Bond, a close friend of the late playwright and a leading interpreter of his work, making his TheatreWorks directorial debut with this play.

The Musical Theatre Guild will be presenting for one-night only A Sondheim Birthday Celebration Live! Laugh! Love! on Stephen Sondheim’s birthday March 22nd at The El Portal Theatre. Jason Graae hosts the Celebration featuring Musical Theatre Guild members with special guest, Stephen Sondheim veteran Teri Ralston. I got to playfully rouse Teri to reminisce about her decades’ history with Stephen Sondheim.

Sent to stay with his step-grandfather in a Rhode Island beach town for a summer, Daniel collides with Izzy, a feisty local. In a spirited dueling of minds that plays off the tropes of romantic comedy, Indian Summer explores what connection is, romantic and otherwise. The play features Spencer Gonzalez, Clara Napolitano, Haythem Noor, and Julian Socha.

Broadway choreographer Liza Gennaro will lead a talk and signing for her new book Making Broadway Dance at The Players, a historic membership club in a Gramercy Park South Gothic Revival mansion, on March 2, 2022.
