Tonight Daniel Sofoluke was awarded the prestigious title of Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2019 at The Y, Leicester. Daniel triumphed in a closely-run competition, which saw a total of eight of the best up and coming acts - each selected by top comedy promoters from across the UK - who performed their best seven minutes in front of an esteemed comedy industry panel and a sold-out audience at Leicester Comedy Festival.

Due to demand, The New Group has announced a three-week extension for Jerry Springer - The Opera, with Matt McGrath appearing as Jerry Springer beginning March 13.  Terrence Mann, currently appearing in the role of Jerry Springer, plays his final performance March 11 due to an existing commitment beyond that date.

Audience members at last night's performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at St Helens Theatre Royal got an extra special Christmas present when comedian Johnny Vegas walked on stage. The Benidorm and Still Open All Hours actor has been playing the role of the Magic Mirror during this year's festive production, but appearing via pre-recorded video projection each night. However, the star surprised the cast and the audience by making a very special live appearance.

New & emerging comedians from across the UK have been announced to take part in a series of prestigious comedy competitions and events at Leicester Comedy Festival 2018. The comedians will take part in competitions including Silver Stand Up, Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year, The UK Pun Championships or the new Circuit Breakers showcase set up following a crowd funding campaign. The New Group has announced today that Terrence Mann and Will Swenson will star in the company's Off-Broadway premiere of Jerry Springer - The Opera, as 'Jerry Springer' and 'Warm-Up / Satan,' respectively.

Christmas has officially arrived in St Helens as the Theatre Royal open their doors to their festive panto, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The show may not open until tomorrow but Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is already proving so popular with St Helens audiences that producers have decided to extend its run.
