BWW Review: Lipscomb University Theatre's GODSPELL Filled With Heart and Soul

Patriq James' graceful portrayal of Jesus Christ in Lipscomb University Theatre's production of Godspell - now onstage in Collins Alumni Auditorium on the school's Nashville campus - shines like a beacon in the very center of the show, providing the very heart of every story told by director Scott Baker's 17-person cast. But if James provides the show's heart, it is perhaps the members of Baker's ensemble, which includes a deft blending of experienced student actors with an assortment of newcomers to their company, who provide its soul.

Former Joffrey Ballet Company Member Joins Board

Joffrey Board Chair Zachary Lazar and President & CEO Greg Cameron are thrilled to welcome former Joffrey dancer John Mark Giragosian to the Joffrey Board of Directors. Giragosian becomes the first former Company-turned-Board member in Joffrey history. Board members serve as the governing body of the Joffrey, providing leadership, overseeing policy and direction, and are responsible for the fiscal accountability of the organization. Mayor Rahm Emanuel serves as the Honorary Chair of the Joffrey's Board.

Brandi Carlile's Girls Just Wanna Weekend—a brand new destination concert vacation featuring an all female-fronted lineup produced by Cloud 9 Adventures in partnership withThe Bowery Presents—will take place at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico from January 30-February 3, 2019. In addition to multiple shows by Carlile, Girls Just Wanna Weekend will feature Maren Morris, Indigo Girls, Margo Price,Patty Griffin, Lucius, KT Tunstall, The Secret Sisters and Ruby Amanfu.

Brandi Carlile Nominated for Three Americana Awards

Brandi Carlile is nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (for By The Way, I Forgive You) and Song of the Year (for “The Joke”) at the 2018 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards. The annual awards show will take place on September 12at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium.

Brandi Carlile Earns Second #1 Album On Billboards Top Rock Chart

According to Billboard, singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile has charted in the number one spot on their Top Rock Chart  with her latest release BY THE WAY, I FORGIVE YOU. The album was released February 16. This marks the second time Carlile has earned the top spot. Read more about it here from Billboard! 

Brandi Carlile's New Single WHATEVER YOU DO Premieres Today

Brandi Carlile's new song “Whatever You Do” is premiering today. “Whatever You Do” is the fourth track unveiled from Carlile's highly anticipated new albumBy The Way, I Forgive You, which will be released February 16 and is now available forpre-order. Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb and acclaimed musician Shooter Jennings, the album is Carlile's first release in partnership with Cobb'sLow Country Sound imprint at Elektra Records.

Trio Settecento Brings 'Handel's Violin' to 2018 Houston Early Music Festival

Trio Settecento, comprised of, from left, Baroque cellist John Mark Rozendaal, violinist Rachel Barton Pine and harpsichordist David Schrader, will present a program titled Handel's Violin on Feb. 11, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2353 Rice Blvd., Houston, Texas 77005. Brandi Carlile's new song, The Mother, is premiering today. Of the song, Carlile explains, 'Welcome to the end of being alone inside your mind ' To some, this sounds like the realization of their most sacred dreams true companionship. For some, this sacrifice is too much to bear and requires its own brand of radical forgiveness. For the most part and for me, it's equal measures of both. I am not just a mother, but it's all that I am.
