Red Bull Theater Opens Submissions for Ninth Annual Short New Play Festival

Red Bull Theater today announced that their ninth annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes will feature two brand new commissions from Kia Corthron and Will Power, alongside six brand new plays chosen from hundreds of submissions from playwrights across the country. Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 has announced that Gabby Beans, Marceline Hugot, and Ismenia Mendes will join Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Karen Kandel, and Lucy Taylor for the world premiere of MARYS SEACOLE, a new play by Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street).  MARYS SEACOLE will begin performances Saturday evening, February 9 and run for six weeks only through Sunday, March 24.  Opening night is Monday, February 25.

Charles Busch has forged a unique place in the world of entertainment as playwright, actor, director, novelist, cabaret performer, and drag icon. On Tuesday, December 11, the multi-talented artist comes to Palm Beach Dramaworks to kick off the popular series Dramalogue - Talking Theatre! In addition to discussing his illustrious career with Sheryl Flatow, Busch will also perform several songs, accompanied on the piano by Tom Judson. The program will be presented twice, at 2pm and 7pm, at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre.

The Acting Company (Ian Belknap, Artistic Director; Elisa Spencer-Kaplan, Executive Director) honored director and artistic leader Bill Rauch and the married civic leaders Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel and Ambassador Carl Spielvogel- individuals whose exemplary work aligns with the artistic and educational ideals of the storied repertory company that produces nationally recognized theater productions and arts education programs-at the Company's 2018 Fall Gala, on November 12. Held at the historic Metropolitan Club (One East 60th Street), the event raised nearly $400,000 and brought together awards, live entertainment, silent and live auctions, dinner, and cocktails in celebration of theater and its contribution to American society. Tony Award-winner and The Acting Company alumna Harriet Harris hosted, with performances by Joanna A. Jones (Hamilton) and Tatiana Wechsler, featuring Russ Kaplan's Broadway Jazz.
