La Jolla Playhouse has announced its return to live, in-person theatre with several exciting upcoming projects. This summer, the Playhouse will offer two on-site events: the Without Walls (WOW) production of A Thousand Ways (Part 2): An Encounter, by 600 Highwaymen, and the 2021 DNA New Works Series.

Artistic Director Michael Unger today unveiled Skylight Music Theatre’s 2021-2022 season, which marks the theatre’s return to in-person performances after more than one year. It will be Unger’s first official season since joining Skylight in 2019, due to cancelled shows during the pandemic. 

Producers Grove Entertainment, Frank Marshall and The Araca Group announced today that Diana: The Musical is coming back to Broadway one month earlier than anticipated. Previews are now scheduled to resume at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Opening night is now set for Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

David Bryan, composer and lyricist for the upcoming Broadway musical Diana: The Musical has signed with Verve for representation as a writer and composer across theater, film and television.

With music by David Bryan, lyrics by Bryan and Joe DiPietro, and a book by DiPietro, Memphis was directed by Christopher Ashley, choreographed by Sergio Trujillo, and starred Montego Glover, Chad Kimball, Derrick Baskin, and James Monroe Iglehart. It was nominated for eight Tony Awards and won four.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley has been approved for a $20,000 Grants for Arts Projects award to support its New Works Festival and the upcoming World Premiere of Nan and the Lower Body. Developed in the 2019 TheatreWorks New Works Festival, Jessica Dickey's play Nan and the Lower Body is scheduled to make its World Premiere in July 2022 in the company's 51st season, directed by TheatreWorks Artistic Associate and Director of New Works Giovanna Sardelli.
