A cabaret debut this summer by Joanne Halev was so successful that it is getting the encore treatment this autumn!

Good Mood Records will celebrate the vocalist and songwriter NORA YORK with a special tribute concert at Joe's Pub on Monday, October 7 at 7:00 PM. This event will help launch the new album Swoon a?' the posthumous release produced by and featuring her collaborator Jamie Lawrence a?' featuring unreleased, never-before-heard compositions and interpretations of pop classics, which is available starting today, Friday, October 4.

James Corden asks Allison Janney about a photo he saw of her wearing a beard and mustache and learns it was part of a prank on director Sir Nicholas Hytner while they was making 'Object of My Affection.' Sir Andrew Davis, Interim Artistic Director, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Johannes Debus, Music Director, Canadian Opera Company, will be among the musical luminaries taking part in the Neil Crory Tribute Concert on Friday, October 11, 7 PM, at Jeanne Lamon Hall, Trinity-St. Paul's Centre. Cabaret is Alive and Well and Living in Los Angeles, benefit concert weekend for The Actors Fund, is back for the 6th year in a row. Conceived and Directed by David Galligan, the 3-night event is presented by Fraser Entertainment Group. All proceeds benefit The Actors Fund.

The hit Broadway musical: RENT opened up Broadway Across Canada's 2019-20 season with it's 20th Anniversary Tour at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on September 17th. Highlighting the story of struggling artists living in the East Village of New York City, we explore their struggles with life, love, and HIV/AIDS. RENT: The 20th Anniversary Tour plays at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver till Sunday September 22nd!

18th and Union Arts Space, Mampsh Productions, and Starstrewn Productions present the world premiere production of Overcoming, a collection of short plays by womxn playwrights. Running October 10 a?" 14 and 17 a?" 19 at 18th and Union Arts Space (1406 18th Avenue), Overcoming showcases work by up-and-coming playwrights as well as Seattle favorites of the stage. 

Itasca, the California folk musician Kayla Cohen, shares “Lily,” the opening track to her forthcoming new album Spring, today, alongside a music video shot on Super 8. In an essay for The Talkhouse, Cohen writes about the song's origins, inspired by the ghostly hallucinations of a water lily she experienced on the long drive from Los Angeles to New Mexico, where she composed the songs on Spring: “There's a trope that a songwriter loves a long drive… but there was the lily image, as a wish for psychosis or an invitation to it.” The video depicts an impressionistic dance of domesticity between mythological figures Ceres (played by Cohen), Pan, and Bes.

Jim Caruso's Cast Party returns to the West Coast for two nights only, Wednesday and Friday, October 9 and 11 at 7:30pm. The 'extreme open mic' will take place at Feinstein's at Vitello's, located at 4349 Tujunga Avenue in Studio City.
