NBC Shares Primetime Schedule For 3/5-4/1

Last week, producers Marc Platt and Neil Meron met with members of the press to share some insight on NBC's upcoming JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE IN CONCERT. NBC's highly anticipated special event is set to star John Legend as Jesus Christ, Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene, Alice Cooper as King Herod, and Brandon Victor Dixon as Judas. The event will air live Easter Sunday, April 1, and will be presented as a concert staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's iconic rock opera. It will be performed in front of a live audience at the Marcy Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Heaven on your mind already? In just under a month, NBC will present Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, starring Oscar, Golden Globe, Tony and 10-time Grammy winner John Legend as Jesus Christ, with Broadway star and acclaimed recording artist Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene, rock icon Alice Cooper as King Herod, and 'Hamilton' alum and 'Power' co-star Brandon Victor Dixon as Judas.

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Tony Award-winning producer, 'Hamilton' alum and 'Power' co-star Brandon Victor Dixon will star as Judas and join an already stellar cast in NBC's highly anticipated special event 'Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,' to be aired Easter Sunday, April 1 from the Marcy Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y. Also joining the cast are Tony nominee Ben Daniels as Pontius Pilate, Tony nominee Norm Lewis as Caiaphas, Broadway veteran Jason Tam as Peter, 'M. Butterfly' star Jin Ha as Annas and Swedish rock star Erik Gronwall as Simon Zealotes.

More members of the 'Jesus Christ Superstar Live!' cast have been announced. Set for Easter Sunday (April 1, 2018), NBC will bring to broadcast television 'Jesus Christ Superstar Live!' -- a one-of-a-kind live staging of the iconic 1971 Broadway rock opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. The first Broadway revival of David Henry Hwang's Tony Award -winning play, M. BUTTERFLY will play its final performance on Sunday, December 17, 2017, after playing 19 previews and 61 regular performances at the Cort Theatre (138 W 48th Street).

The one-night-only NYC premiere of Stan Zimmerman's Right Before I Go. took place on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Town Hall (123 W 43rd Street). Directed by Michael Wilson, Right Before I Go. featured a cast of 23, including Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award-winners raising awareness for suicide prevention.

BUTTERFLY, inspired by the romance between French diplomat Bernard Boursicot and Peking opera singer Shi Pei Pu, who the Frenchman didn't know was a) a Communist spy, and b) a man, first played on Broadway, there was a not so small detail that tended to baffle audience members.
