Jim Cartwright's multi-award winning The Rise and Fall of Little Voice is coming back to Sydney and the cast and crew recently threw open the doors to the rehearsal room for an exclusive look at the brand new production ahead of its premiere on 5 February.

The production, which will be directed by Michael Strassen, runs from 7th July to 4th August. First produced in 1992, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice was voted third best play of the decade and has been named as one of the top 50 best plays in the history of theatre. The play was nominated for six Oliviers, winning three of them as well as the prestigious Evening Standard Award. Its film adaptation, Little Voice (1998) starring Jane Horrocks in the title role was also a huge hitreceiving an Oscar nomination alongside numerous other awards for its screenplay and cast.

Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre company is preparing to spend a month in New York this spring. The company is taking one of last summer season's hit shows, Alan Ayckbourn's A Brief History of Women, to the city to be part of the annual Brits Off Broadway festival organised by 59e59 Theaters. The show will be seen at the theatre - which is located at 59 East 59th Street - from 1 to 27 May.
