Through Jewish Family Services' annual Hanukkah Holiday Project, more than 300 individuals will receive gifts and gift cards during the Festival of Lights. This year Hanukkah begins at sundown Sunday, Dec. 22.
The Jewish Repertory Theater will present a reading of Atlanta playwright Hank Kimmel's HOLIDAY SHORTS, Monday, December 2, 7-9 pm at the Maxine and Robert Seller Theater, located inside the Jewish Community Center at 2640 North Forest Road, Amherst. ANYTHING GOES opened on Saturday, November 2 to kick off the 15th season of the theater located at the Jewish Community Center. Tim Bair directs this whimsical musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The original book was by P. G. Wodehouse and Guy Bolton and was heavily revised by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. The new book is by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.

The Mountain Play Association announces the upcoming departure of long-time executive leader Sara Pearson, from the staff of the 107-year-old nonprofit theater. Ms. Pearson stepped away from her former position as executive director in late 2018, serving as director of leadership and development in the 2019 season. Starting this winter she will continue her affiliation with the Mountain Play working as a fundraising consultant through the 2020 season. www.mountainplay.org

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City is nearing its $11.5 million goal for a major expansion of its facilities. To date, $10.35 million has been raised, which includes a matching gift from Michael Staenberg, a St. Louis philanthropist and J advocate. Staenberg initially gave $1.8 million to the Kansas City J's capital campaign with the promise to donate an additional $1.2 million, once $9.3 million had been raised from the community.
