Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company Announces Its 2020-2021 Season plus Introducing Woolly on Demand and The Golden Ticket

With transparency and cautious optimism as guiding pillars, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is pleased to announce its 2020-2021 season. Season 41 features the return of a postponed production, new partnerships, a digital season, and an exciting evolution of Woollya??s subscription plan. Anticipated to take place between Fall 2020 and Summer 2021, Woollya??s timeline is designed to be flexible given the rolling nature of the re-opening process. Woolly will announce dates for shows on an ongoing basis, when the theatre is certain it can move forward responsibly, and ensure the health and safety of staff, artists, and audiences. A.C.T. Announces Spring Forward Fundraising Event

In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) announced today that it will host Spring Forward, a one-night-only virtual fundraising event, on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the event will support A.C.T.'s diverse and far-reaching artistic, artist-training, and education and community programs, reaching almost 200,000 Bay Areaa?"based recipients each year. In addition, a portion of the proceeds will support Theatre Bay Area's Performing Arts Worker Relief Fund, a resource for Bay Area performing arts workers who are facing a loss of income due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

American Conservatory Theater and Humphry Slocombe Announce Partnership

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.), San Francisco's premier nonprofit theater organization, announced today a partnership with Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream, the small-batch ice cream brand known for its unique, innovative flavors, that will take place beginning with the season opener, Top Girls, at the Geary Theater on Thursday, September 19.

A.C.T. Names Juan Manzo Director of Education & Community Programs

Today, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon and Executive Director Jennifer Bielstein announced the appointment of Juan Manzo as the company's new Director of Education & Community Programs. In partnership with artistic and executive leadership, Juan will construct the vision, oversee the development, and assess the impact of the theater's various education and community programs, including ACTsmart School Programs, Community Engagement, Young Conservatory youth artist training, and the Fellowship Program for emerging theater professionals.

American Conservatory Theater Receives $50,000 Grant From The National Endowment For The Arts

National Endowment for the Arts Acting Chairman Mary Anne Carter has approved more than $80 million in grants as part of the Arts Endowment's second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2019. Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $50,000 to San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) to support the upcoming production of Eugene Ionesco's "seminal absurdist satire" (Los Angeles Times), Rhinoceros, performing at A.C.T.'s Geary Theater May 29-June 23, 2019. Art Works is the Arts Endowment's principal grantmaking program. The agency received 1,592 Art Works applications for this round of grantmaking, and will award 977 grants in this category.

Bay Area Theater Community To Dim Its Lights In Honor Of San Francisco's Own Carol Channing

The Bay Area theater community will honor the life and career of theatrical legend and San Francisco local treasure, Carol Channing, with the dimming of the lights on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 7:45 p.m. PST for one minute. This will echo Wednesday's dimming of the lights of Broadway theaters in New York. American Conservatory Theater, Curran, Feinstein's at the Nikko, and Lowell High School will participate, and with Theatre Bay Area and its 300 theater company members, other theaters throughout the Bay Area will pay tribute to Channing throughout the day, shining a light on her marque performances over social media.

American Conservatory Theater Raises $900,000 At Its Fall Celebration

With the help of celebrated guest artists-including Oscar, Tony, and Emmy Award winner Ellen Burstyn, Tony Award winner BD Wong, and Emmy, Tony, and Golden Globe Award winner Judd Hirsch-American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) raised $900,000 at its Fall Celebration welcoming new Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon and new Executive Director Jennifer Bielstein. Board of Trustees today namedJennifer Bielstein the new executive director of San Francisco's premier nonprofit theater organization. Bielstein succeeds Peter Pastreich who will depart from American Conservatory Theater at the end of the 2017-18 season.

Guthrie Theater's Jennifer Bielstein Elected President of the League of Resident Theatres

The Guthrie Theater announced that Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein has been elected as president of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), the largest professional theater association of its kind in the United States, boasting 72 member Theatres in 29 states and the District of Columbia. Bielstein succeeds Timothy J. Shields, the managing director of McCarter Theatre Center, and began her three-year term in May 2017.

Les Waters Will Step Down As Artistic Director of the Actors Theatre of Louisville

Les Waters and the Board of Directors announced today that Mr. Waters will step down as Artistic Director after six seasons at the helm of the Tony Award-winning Actors Theatre of Louisville. Waters will depart in the summer of 2018, following the close of the 2017-2018 season, to pursue personal projects.

BWW News: Actors Theatre Names New Managing Director

Kevin E. Moore will join Actors Theatre of Louisville as Managing Director this summer in advance of the Tony Award-winning theatre's 53rd season. The appointment was announced less than three months after former Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein departed for a leadership position at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, MN. Moore, who for the past six years has been the Managing Director of Theatre Communications Group (TCG) in New York City, will transition to this position effective July 6, 2016.
