Fifty-eight film and television writers have been named finalists for The 44 th Annual HUMANITAS Prize, it was announced today by HUMANITAS Executive Director Cathleen Young and President Ali LeRoi. The writers are nominated for their work in the 30-minute Comedy, 60-minute Drama, Children's Teleplay, Independent Feature Film, Drama Feature Film, Comedy Feature Film, Family Feature Film and Documentary categories. The HUMANITAS Prize was created to honor film and television writers whose work inspires compassion, hope, and understanding in the human family.

Mozart in the Jungle is being cancelled by Amazon after four seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The decision was made by new chief Jennifer Salke, who began working for Amazon a few weeks ago.

According to Deadline, Jason Schwartzman and Cherry Jones are set to join Amy Poehler in the new Netflix feature WINE COUNTRY. Amy Poehler is set to star in, direct, and produce. The film is also set to feature talent from Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Rachel Dratch, Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey and Emily Spivey. Poehler has directed episodes of PARKS AND RECREATION and BROAD CITY in the past, but this will be her feature film directorial debut. ISLE OF DOGS tells the story of ATARI KOBAYASHI, 12-year-old ward to corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. When, by Executive Decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage-dump called Trash Island, Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies across the river in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly-found mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture.
