As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Tony Award-winning producer, 'Hamilton' alum and 'Power' co-star Brandon Victor Dixon will star as Judas and join an already stellar cast in NBC's highly anticipated special event 'Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,' to be aired Easter Sunday, April 1 from the Marcy Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y. Also joining the cast are Tony nominee Ben Daniels as Pontius Pilate, Tony nominee Norm Lewis as Caiaphas, Broadway veteran Jason Tam as Peter, 'M. Butterfly' star Jin Ha as Annas and Swedish rock star Erik Gronwall as Simon Zealotes.

TV Line reports that Brandon Victor Dixon will appear as Judas opposite Sara Bareilles, Alice Cooper and John Legend in NBC's special event JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE IN CONCERT, to be aired Easter Sunday, April 1. The next incarnation of NBC's series of live musicals will be an exuberant concert staging of this iconic rock opera in front of a live audience at the Marcy Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Classics are classics because they have a resonance that lasts long after their final word has been written.  The Old Globe's production of UNCLE VANYA, by Anton Chekhov, with a new translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky with playwright and production director Richard Nelson, is nothing short of an excellent example of letting a classic have its vibrant say once again.

The new generation of Irish rock and dance continues when ROCKIN' ROAD TO DUBLIN launches the Spring 2018 national tour, announced ROCKIN' ROAD TO DUBLIN creators and executive producers, Celtic rocker Chris Smith and Irish Dance World Champion Scott Doherty. On May 2, the show will be performed for one night only at The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater in Syracuse, NY. Tickets will go on sale Friday, February 16 at 10am. The Old Globe will present a free, one-night-only event, Barry Edelstein In Conversation with Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky, supported by the Fuson Family, on Wednesday, February 14 at 5:30 p.m. Continuing his very popular interview series, Edelstein sits down with translator/director Nelson-a great American playwright, at once a poet of the stage and an innovator of theatrical form-and Pevear and Volokhonsky-the world's foremost translators of Russian literature, and perhaps our most influential thinkers about the art of translation. They will discuss the collaborative process behind this Uncle Vanya, as well as the art of translation and bringing the classics of the stage to life for a contemporary audience.

The Old Globe's 2017 2018 Season continues with today's announcement of the complete cast and creative team for Anton Chekhov's masterpiece Uncle Vanya, which has received a Globe-commissioned world premiere translation from Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear, andLarissa Volokhonsky. Richard Nelson (Illyria, The Gabriel Plays, Tony Award winner for Best Book of a Musical for James Joyce's The Dead) also directs. Uncle Vanya will run February 10 March 11, 2018 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run February 10 14. Opening night is Thursday, February 15 at 8:00 p.m.

Tantrum Theater's reimagined Equity production of Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori's masterpiece Caroline, or Change, has performed to standing ovations and sold out audiences. Directed by the brilliant director Robert Barry Fleming, the production opened last week at the Abbey Theater in Dublin, Ohio.

BULLETS OVER BROADWAY brings Woody Allen's New Yorker sensibility to the seaside community of Ogunquit, Maine, along with a coterie of thugs, hoofers, show people, and one adorable pug. Based on Allen's and co-writer Douglas McGrath's 1994 film of the same name, the musical incorporates old songs from the 1920s to ground the madcap action in the era of prohibition, when bathtub gin and gangsters with pistols and fedoras were equally prevalent. Jeff Whiting recreates Susan Stroman's original direction and outstanding choreography, and the amazing ensemble dancers tilt and whirl with foot-stomping abandon that resonates through the Ogunquit Playhouse.
