Los Angeles-based band JEMS will release their debut self-titled album on May 17 (pre-order). This week the band revealed the latest single from the album 'Like Myself.' The track premiered this week at AudioFemme along with an exclusive interview with the band. 'Like Myself' can also be shared at SoundCloud. JEMS have also announced a Los Angeles record release show coming up on May 18 at The Hotel Cafe. Bellman's Bar in The Carlyle Hotel is a time capsule of New York City celebrity music nightlife. Sunday's the music and entertainment of BIlly Stritch and Jim Caruso superbly add to the history of the legendary room. Last night Jim was probably being mobbed at the Easter Parade being mistaken for Fred Astaire so BIlly had award winning Jazz vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli join him for an evening of great music.

April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and Ella Fitzgerald embodied this genre. International vocalist Michelle Johnson will pay tribute to Ella, known as the First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz, and Lady Ella when Michelle Johnson Presents A Tribute To Ella Fitzgerald at the Myron's Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center on April 19.

For the seventh year in a row, Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch return to Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel with their evening of swinging standards starting Sunday, April 7, then running every Sunday through June 30, from 9pm to midnight.

The seventh annual "Night Of A Thousand Judys" - the Pride concert to benefit The Ali Forney Center written and hosted by Justin Sayre - will take place at Joe's Pub on Saturday, June 1. The Ali Forney Center is the nation's largest agency dedicated to helping LGBTQ homeless youth.

Simply stated, Zakir Hussain is one of the greatest musicians of our time. A classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order, his consistently brilliant and exciting performances have led to historic collaborations with Shakti, which he founded with John McLaughlin and L. Shankar; Planet Drum with Mickey Hart; Sangam with Charles Lloyd and Eric Harland, and recordings and performances with artists as diverse as George Harrison, Yo-Yo Ma, Joe Henderson, Van Morrison, Mark Morris and Pharoah Sanders.

The 2018-2019 Renee Fleming VOICES series continues withJamie Barton on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. in the Terrace Theater. Accompanied by pianist Kathleen Kelly, Barton's one-night-only recital will feature classics from Haydn, Strauss, and Ravel while showcasing the voices of women, including works by composers Nadia and Lili Boulanger and Americans Elinor Remick Warren and Amy Beach. Barton's performance also features Love After 1950, a contemporary song cycle by Libby Larsen that uses offbeat vocal styles like blues, tango, and honky-tonk to evoke different moods. Tickets for this program are $49-$69.

Birdland mainstays Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch have returned to Birdland Theater with "The Sunday Set," an evening of swinging standards and a few tunes that are hard to categorize! The dynamic duo has one more concert, on Sunday, February 17, with a show at 7:30pm. Bassist Steve Doyle joins the duo.

The 2018-2019 Renee Fleming VOICES series continues with singer-songwriter Nellie McKay today, February 8, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. in the Terrace Theater. McKay's one-night-only solo set will include songs from her recent Sister Orchid, as well as others in her catalog. Tickets for this performance are $25-$35.

This carefully curated tribute features a selection of Nancy's songs interwoven with captivating details about her life and music. From her early jazz collaborations with George Shearing and Cannonball Adderley to her biggest R&B hits, enjoy the best of Nancy Wilson as interpreted by this Brooklyn-based group of professional jazz musicians.

The Great American Songbook Foundation has launched the nationwide application process for its 2019 Songbook Academy summer intensive, a one-of-a-kind performance program for high school students led by Foundation founder and five-time Grammy Award nominee Michael Feinstein.
