Birdland will kick-off their great week of programming with Vincent Herring, Beegie Adair, Pete Malinverni Trio, and more!

March 11 (Monday) at 7:00PM

Harmony on Broadway

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to present "Harmony on Broadway," created and arranged by Jake Odmark. A bevy of Broadway performers will star, including Kirstin Maldonado, John Riddle, Alysha Deslorieux, Jacob Keith Watson, Raymond J Lee, Natalie Weiss, Max Chernin, Joel Waggoner, Laura Chapman, Vishal Vaidya, Florrie Bagel, J. Harrison Ghee and Elena Shaddow. "Harmony on Broadway" will celebrate beloved show-tunes, rearranged with new and innovative harmonies. Jake Odmark (Kinky Boots, Pretty Woman), the musical mind behind the hit Broadway vocal trio Apollo Link, serves up some unique sounds as he re-voices some of Broadway's best hits. Jake has been a choral and a cappella clinician for the past 15 years and is finally bringing his aural art to Broadway!

Will Reynolds at the Birdland Theater

Birdland Theater is proud to announce that actor/writer Will Reynolds, along with a bevy of Broadway singers, will perform a concert of his songs. Will Reynolds is a Brooklyn-based actor and writer, and has written the music for The Violet Hour, Radioactive, Around the World, and The Sixth Borough, all with Eric Price. Will is the composer/creator of The Greenwood Tree (based on the Sonnets by Shakespeare), recently developed by the Stratford Festival in Canada. His song cycle Poems & Moon Songs has been produced as part of the Lincoln Center Songbook Series, and the song "Tavern" (text by Edna St. Vincent Millay) was featured on 6-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald's album GO BACK HOME. Acting credits include: Daddy Long Legs (Off Broadway, directed by John Caird), Passion at Classic Stage Company (directed by John Doyle, cast album on PS Classics), Tony Kushner's The Illusion (Signature Theater, directed by Michael Mayer), Emma at The Old Globe, Love Story at the Walnut Street Theatre, Big River at Goodspeed, A Room With A View at Seattle's Fifth Avenue, and the North American Tour of Mamma Mia! Film: EMMA (streamingmusicals.com), and THE GOOD SHEPHERD (directed by Robert De Nero). Will has been a Dramatists Guild Fellow, is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, and is currently on faculty at Pace University.

Jim Caruso's Cast Party

Jim Caruso's Cast Party is a wildly popular weekly soiree that brings a sprinkling of Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night. It's a cool cabaret night-out enlivened by a hilariously impromptu variety show. Showbiz superstars, backed by Steve Doyle on bass, Billy Stritch on piano and Daniel Glass on drums, hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle.

March 12 (Tuesday) at 7:00PM

Jenna Esposito: The Sixties Chicks at the Birdland Theater

In this brand-new show, vocalist Jenna Esposito takes the audience on a rollicking romp through some of the biggest hits of the 1960's, all made popular by female vocalists. From "girl group" songs by the Crystals ("And Then He Kissed Me") and the Chiffons ("One Fine Day"), to the hits of Dusty Springfield ("You Don't Have To Say You Love Me"), Lesley Gore ("It's My Party"), and Connie Francis ("Where The Boys Are"), this show will have audiences singing, bopping, and "Dancing In The Streets!" For this show, Jenna will be backed by her four-piece band, led by musical director, Fortune Esposito on guitar, as well as Kelly Esposito-Broelmann and Rob Langeder on background vocals.

Vincent Herring: History of Jazz

Saxophonist Vincent Herring's intense, soulful, multi-noted style and ebullient swing have excited audiences worldwide. On stage, Herring and his band often make an incendiary sound over fine and controlled rhythms of modern times. His extensive guest soloist appearances include performances with Wynton Marsalis at Lincoln Center and Jon Faddis and The Carnegie Hall Big Band. Vincent's discography reveals over 20 titles as a leader and over 250 as a sideman. His current and past projects speak to the wide range of his musical interest and versatility: The Vincent Herring-Joris Dudli's Soul Jazz Alliance, Earth Jazz Agents, Friendly Fire with Vincent Herring and Eric Alexander. Vincent leads a band called Jazz The Story with Jon Faddis, Jeremy Pelt, Steve Turre, James Carter, Eric Alexander, Mike LeDonne, Kenny Davis, Carl Allen and NicolasBearde.

The Lineup with Susie Mosher at the Birdland Theater

The Lineup with Susie Mosher is a wild, anything-goes variety show featuring entertainers from the Broadway, cabaret and comedy scenes. Actress/singer Mosher hosts the spontaneous extravaganza at 9:45pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month.

David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band

Inspired by the noble jazz pioneers Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton and their colleagues, David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band breathes life and passion into America's own great art form. Now in its 14th year of residency at Birdland, the weekly post-workday engagement is the city's best musical bargain! Tuba player David Ostwald leads a rotating lineup that features talents such as clarinetist Anat Cohen, trombonist/vocalist Wycliffe Gordon, pianist Ehud Asherie, drummer Marion Felder and more!

Beegie Adair and Monica Ramey with Bassist Roger Spencer at the Birdland Theater

Jazz fans and critics agree, pianist Beegie Adair's sophisticated and listenable brand of jazz has made her recordings among the biggest sellers in the jazz world. Her collaboration with Vocalist Monica Ramey is equally sublime.

Pete Malinverni Trio: On The Town at the Birdland Theater

Pianist, composer, educator Pete Malinverni has been a fixture on the New York City Jazz scene and will be performing the music of Leonard Bernstein. He has recorded fourteen times as a leader, including in solo piano, trio, quartet, quintet, big band and choral contexts. All his recordings have been received by critics and the public alike and have seen heavy air play on all platforms, from the radio to the internet. Throughout his time in NYC, Pete has established performing, recording and inspirational contact with a host of masters on the scene there, including Joe Lovano, Vernel Fournier, Charles Davis, Mel Lewis, Dennis Irwin, Jon Faddis, Karrin Allyson, Steve Wilson and many, many others. These experiences have convinced him that music must be treated as a sacred gift, to be passed on freely to fellow musicians and listeners, with passionate control. Joining him are Doug Weiss (Bass) and Aaron Seeber (Drums).

Ehud Asherie: "Wild Man Blues" Album Release

Ehud Asherie is a jazz pianist who integrates the venerable New York piano tradition into his inventive style. Asherie has since worked with a broad range of musicians including: Eric Alexander, Roy Ayers, Peter Bernstein, Jesse Davis, Bobby Durham, Vince Giordano, Wycliffe Gordon, Scott Hamilton, Ryan Kisor, Jane Monheit, Catherine Russell, Ken Peplowski and Clark Terry. Beyond his dedication to jazz music, Ehud Asherie has also developed a passion for traditional Brazilian music. His appreciation and profound knowledge of the music, language and culture are the foundation of Asherie's project entitled Bina & Ehud, a duo formed in 2003, with Brazilian guitarist, Bina Coquet. Joining Asherie are Peter Washington (Bass) and Rodney Green (Drums).

Eric Comstock

Singer/pianist Eric Comstock has been called "a song's best friend," and the jazz and pop songbooks are in great hands when he is onstage at Birdland. Whether the song is by Rodgers and Hart or Ellington and Strayhorn, Paul Simon or Bob Dylan, you'll hear the lyric as if for the first time. Joining Eric will be eminent bassist/composer Sean Smith -- in all, a perfect winter Saturday supper!

Bobby LaVell Jazz Orchestra

Bobby began his professional career performing, arranging and conducting for Memphis singer Lee Stone. He continued to develop his performing career by serving long stints as a regular with the phenomenal BB King and Ray Charles. Bobby has also performed with such fixtures as The Temptations, The Four Tops, and The Nicholas Brothers. With his own intuition Bobby founded and leads "The Bobby LaVell Jazz Orchestra", formally "The Hudson River Jazz Orchestra". Bobby' s talents are to say the least, a man who is full of inspiration and enormous talent, as a saxophonist, Bobby LaVell's sound, technique and articulation are second to none. As a composer his works are poignant and inspiring. As a person, he is solid, and as an artist he is phenomenal.

The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra

Grammy Award winning pianist, composer and educator Arturo O'Farrill -- leader of the "first family of Afro-Cuban Jazz" (NY Times) -- was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City. Son of the late, great composer Chico O'Farrill, Arturo was Educated at Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. He played piano in Carla Bley's Big Band from 1979 through 1983 and earned a reputation as a soloist in groups led by Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Turre, Freddy Cole, Lester Bowie, Wynton Marsalis and Harry Belafonte.
