A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet, the first completely new musical to premiere at an off-Broadway venue since the shutdown began, released today a composer's demo lyric video of “One Hit Song”.

CHASING JACK will begin Preview Performances Off-Broadway on Wednesday, September 22nd at the Jerry Orbach Theatre (210 West 50th Street) in Times Square on the corner of Broadway and 50th Street.

Featuring book, music, and lyrics by Alex Wyse ('Indoor Boys', Spring Awakening) and Ben Fankhauser (Newsies, Beautiful), with direction by Marshall Pailet (Baghdaddy, Triassic Parq), this world premiere musical begins previews on Friday, September 17th, at the DR2 Theatre (103 E. 15th Street), with an opening night set for Monday, September 27th.

PRIMARY STAGES has announced new artistic development programs, as well as their path towards reopening to in-person theater in Spring 2022.

PRIMARY STAGES has announced its Fall 2021 Virtual Season. Primary Stages will welcome back Kate Hamill with her latest comedy, BadAss GalBoss Power Hour (Mandatory Meeting – 11/18/2020). Primary Stages will welcome back 2019 Jeffry Melnick Award Winner Inda Craig-Galván for their next Living Room Commission, Undo The Sea.

Although Anita Gillette & Penny Fuller have been in show business for a very long time, their close friendship is not even a decade old yet. Fans frequently mistake them for each other. This is the premise of their show SIN TWISTERS which will open at 54 Below Monday, August 16. The title, of course, is a Spoonerism.  Fuller and Gillette explain that, and the mystery of their mistaken identities in the show. They also sing lots of fantastic numbers from the many stages of their careers. I recently caught up with Anita and Penny on Zoom. It was a chatty, delightful afternoon. 

Announced today is the complete casting for the world premiere off-Broadway musical A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet. Starring as ‘Regina Comet’ is Bryonha Marie Parham, who will be joined by A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet creators Alex Wyse, and Ben Fankhauser to complete the cast.

The evening will honor a champion of unheard voices:  4-time Tony Award-winning Broadway producer Hal Luftig.

Adrienne Warren (Tina in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) and Miguel Cervantes (Alexander Hamilton in Hamilton) joined Bond 45 owner, Shelly Fireman in a ribbon cutting celebrating the reopening of Bond 45 and revitalization of Times Square.

The York Theatre Company is back in action! Just last night, friends of the York gathered for its first in-person event in 15 months- Reunion on the Rooftop.

Christy Altomare (Anastasia) is set to lead a June 16th developmental reading of a new musical, Alice in Neverland, a sequel to one of the most beloved stories of all time, and a prequel to another.

A few days post Marilyn Maye’s memorable engagement in the Wick Theatre Cabaret Johnny Carson’s favorite singer was relaxing and dining with friends at Table 26 in Palm Beach.  The other patrons in the restaurant subsequently got an unexpected rare treat.
