The George London Foundation for Singers announces with sorrow that Nora E. London passed away on June 23, 2022, at the age of 98. Born Nora Schapiro on January 8, 1924, in Berlin, she was raised in Europe, coming to the United States at the beginning of World War II.
The George London Foundation for Singers presents three events at The Morgan Library & Museum in the 2022-23 season: the 51st annual George London Foundation Competition for American and Canadian opera singers, one of the opera world's most prestigious competitions, and two recitals showcasing recent winners: rising stars mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis and baritone Benjamin Taylor, who both won their George London Awards in 2018.

Opera fans across Australia will soon be able to enjoy performances from the Metropolitan Opera, with six new productions set to premiere in Australian cinemas nationally beginning on October 30.
Nobody goes to see the Met’s TURANDOT for subtlety and, from that standpoint, the audience got what it paid for at the opera’s first performance of the season. That is, except, perhaps from soprano Christine Goerke in the title role, who gave a finely nuanced performance when the production didn’t get in her way (and a steely one when it was called for).
Puccini’s majestic Turandot will return to the Met with nine performances beginning October 12, 2021, and five additional performances beginning April 30, 2022. Conducted by Marco Armiliato, Turandot features two of opera’s most thrilling voices sharing the title role of the legendary princess: Christine Goerke and Anna Netrebko.
