San Diego Symphony Celebrates LEONARD BERNSTEIN AT 100

As one of the most celebrated musicians of his time, Leonard Bernstein (1918 - 1990) dedicated his life and career to the joy of music and the development of humanity. In his centennial year, the San Diego Symphony is proud to host a special Bernstein Festival in association with "Leonard Bernstein at 100", a world-wide celebration of his 100th birthday. Throughout the month of May, the San Diego Symphony will perform four special programs honoring Leonard Bernstein's life as a composer, conductor, educator, musician, cultural ambassador, and activist.
Hoff-Barthelson Music School Announces Concert for Children CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS

Hoff-Barthelson Music School presents a special concert for children featuring a performance of Camille Saint-Saens' beloved work "The Carnival of the Animals," on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at 2:00 pm, at the School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale. The concert, performed by members of the School's superb faculty under the direction of Chi-Chi Lin Bestmann, will introduce youngsters to many of the instruments of the orchestra. Executive Director Ken Cole will serve as narrator using the humorous verses especially written for this piece by Ogden Nash.

Vladimir Spivakov and Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra to Perform at Lisner Auditorium

Eminent maestro Vladimir Spivakov and the acclaimed Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra will perform at Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University on Saturday, June 3 at 7:30 PM as a part of their seven-city North American tour. Joining them are the brilliant soprano and Metropolitan Opera star Hibla Gerzmava - last heard at the Met in 2016 as Desdemona in Verdi's Otello, and who recently made her La Scala Opera debut in the title role in Donizetti's Anna Bolena - and 14-year-old Israeli prodigy, cellist Danielle Akta.

New York Theatre Ballet Returns to New York Live Arts for Uptown/Downtown/Dance Series, 3/1-4

New York Theatre Ballet (NYTB) returns to New York Live Arts with its new Uptown/Downtown/Dance series from March 1-4, 2017 at 7:30pm with an additional 2pm matinee on Saturday. This year's program features a revival of Nijinsky's L'Apres-Midi d'un Faune staged by the 98-year-old Ann Hutchinson Guest, a new and as-of-yet untitled pas de trois by Pam Tanowitz, Frederick Ashton's La Chatte métamorphoses en femme, and Antonia Franceschi's She Holds Out Her Hand which premiered at Danspace in Fall 2016. All pieces will be performed to live music. A post-show celebration with wine, hors d'oeuvres, and music will be held after the opening night performance for which tickets are $75. Tickets for the performances are $30 ($15 for Students & Seniors) and can be purchased at http://newyorklivearts.org/event/spring-concerts/.
