The Philly POPS kicks off Spring Break with a splash of Broadway magic at The Met Philadelphia in Disney's Broadway Hits.

Shelley L. Ackerman, who began her career at age 17 as a comedic singer and waitress at the famed clubs The Improvisation and Catch A Rising Star, died on Thursday, February 27, 2020 in Manhattan. She passed peacefully this morning surrounded by family and friends. She was 66 years old. The cause of death was cancer related said her friend, publicist Merle Frimark. 'My Libra sister fought courageously for a long time,' Frimark said.

Barb Jungr, Britain's provocative cabaret/jazz artist, is to showcase her new recording, 'Bob, Brel and Me', in her eagerly awaited debut performance in historic Wilton's Music Hall, on Tuesday 26 May.

The greatest French songs of the post-war years will be in the spotlight at the McCallum Theatre at 8:00pm, Friday, March 20, in Paris! The Show, made possible through the generosity of Charles and Nancy Nevil. After the success of Piaf! The Show, starring the internationally acclaimed Anne Carrere, producer and creator Gil Marsalla created a brand-new show, also starring Carrere, highlighting the best French music. FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, will present the Hofstra University Cabaret in 'Jacques Brel est Vivant!' on Saturday, April 25th 2020 at 11:30pm. These fearlessly talented cab-'beret' students have spent this semester at Hofstra University digging into the emotional canon of Jacques Brel, an artist who inspired innumerable artists to strive to achieve his level of deeply-ingrained emotion and generous performance. Using profoundly personal material, they invite you to join them on an exploration of love, life, and death during their one-hour performance.

Meow Meow brings her unique brand of chaotic energy to Perth Concert Hall as she opens her three-night cabaret micro-festival Kabarett Haus as part of Perth Festival. She has invited collaborators and friends Rufus Wainwright and Amanda Palmer to perform in two subsequent nights, but Thursday night is all about Meow Meow in all her feline glory as she performs her show Pandemonium, backed by WASO and Pink Martini's Thomas M Lauderdale on piano, to a thoroughly rapt audience.

This show, by the company of ex-Principal dancer at The Royal Ballet, Carlos Acosta, gives the audience a mixed bill, as up close as the title suggests, with as much Cuba as you would find in a hand-rolled cigar.

Creative Cauldron presents its first production of 2020, Crowns, February 13 - March 8, written by Regina Taylor and adapted from the book by Michael Cunningham and Craig Mayberry. When a Brooklyn teen goes to live in South Carolina after the death of her brother she learns the beauty, ceremony and symbolism of hat-wearing from her resilient, southern sisters. This musical draws from the roots of gospel music and traditions of greater African-American Diaspora to weave an inter-generational story of love, joy, and redemption.

Barb Jungr, Lea DeLaria, Karen Oberlin, Marissa Mulder...Each of these female vocalists had plenty to say about love and made some 20th century popular music their own, each in her own quite original way.

The Howard County Arts Council has announced Howard County's signature arts event! The Celebration of the Arts in Howard County, presented by Howard Bank, will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center, Howard Community College, Columbia, MD. Mary Ann and Chuck Scully will act as Honorary Chairs for the evening. Joseph Ritsch, Producing Artistic Director for Rep Stage, will serve as Event Emcee.

MaryJo Mundy, the highly acclaimed and beloved cabaret singer and founder of the longest running open mic at the famed Gardenia, hosts the 4th night of what celebrates and fosters musical theatre/cabaret performers, while also showcasing her own remarkable talent. On the third Saturday of every month Ms. Mundy (co-hosted monthly by Alexis Gach and singer/songwriter/producer Hillary Rollins ) throws a 'cabaret party' on-stage at the Gardenia along with three guest performers.
