The House Theatre of Chicago's Board of Directors announce the 2nd annual incarnation of THE SPECTACULAR. Hosted by NPR's Peter Sagal (Wait, Waita?? Don't Tell Me!), the fundraiser celebrates the company's continuing commitment to amazing feats of storytelling with dinner, dancing, a silent auction, live music from This Must Be The Band, and a one-of-a-kind floor show. This year the organization will honor David Schmitz (Executive Director of Steppenwolf Theatre Company) with a roast in recognition of his many years of service on the Board of Directors of The House and his contributions to Chicago's theatre community. Milwaukee Repertory Theater will honor 12 Milwaukee SHEroes during the run of Eclipsed, March 3 -29, 2020. A Milwaukee SHEro is a woman* of color who exemplifies the values of dedication to one's community, collaboration and sisterhood. Milwaukee Rep received over 100 nominations, which an outside selection committee including Milwaukee Rep employees and community members, picked the following 12 candidates honored as Milwaukee SHEroes. All 12 women are doing their part to better the Milwaukee community.

Proceeds from ticket sales are going to The Diana Award which runs the UK's leading anti-bullying school programme.
Florida Studio Theatre (FST) announces that it has been approved for a $15,000 Art Works grant to support The Suffragist Project: Celebrating 100 Years of the Woman's Right to Vote. In honor of this historic milestone, The Suffragist Project has brought together over 60 community partners, each creating their own artistic, cultural, and educational programming. As part of FST's contribution to The Project, the theatre has launched Historically Speaking, an educational touring program; commissioned four playwrights to develop new plays inspired by the movement for women's suffrage; and created an original devised play. The grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will support these artistic initiatives, as well as FST's Dangerous Ladies Festival, a weekend-long culminating celebration in August 2020 of the new theatrical work created over the course of The Project.
