Ice Factory Festival Returns To New Ohio Theatre

New Ohio Theatre has announced that the 28th annual Obie Award-winning Ice Factory Festival will return to live in-person performances, featuring seven new works over seven weeks, June 30 - August 14, 2021, at New Ohio Theatre, located at 154 Christopher Street between Greenwich and Washington Streets in New York City.

Rachel Lynett's BLACK MEXICAN Comes To Wayward Voices

The inaugural season of Wayward Voices continues with a workshop presentation of “Black Mexican” by Rachel Lynett. New York-based artist Gineiris Garcia is partnering  with Lynett and taking the reins as the workshop's director.

Roundabout Theatre Company and Arts for All Abilities Consortium will present a virtual theatre festival dedicated to the voices of artists with disabilities tonight, April 8 (6pm ET). The festival is space for artists to develop and share new theatre works, created and hosted by Roundabout Theatre Company and with the participation of four lead partner organizations: Actionplay, CO/LAB Theater Group, DreamStreet Theatre Company and EPIC Players.

People's Light recently announced a reimagined 2020/2021 Season, which includes an investment in filmed theatrical productions and a hopeful return to live theatre in March 2021.  

BWW News: Studio Theatre Embarks on Largest Round of Commissioning in Its History, Awarding Grants to Ten Theatre Artists and Supporting Audio Plays for The First Time

Building on over 40 years of producing powerful contemporary theatre, Studio Theatre is pleased to announce its largest class ever of commissioned artists to Studio R&D, its incubator to support the creation of new work. Studio will award grants to 10 artists-playwrights, directors, and multidisciplinary creators-investing in its future while supporting theatre-makers and expanding the idea of what it means to be a generative artist. For the first time, Studio R&D commissions are being awarded to support the creation of audio plays, as Studio explores alternate modes of theatrical storytelling in response to the present moment.

Zachary Quinto, Marin Ireland and More to Participate in Rattlestick Playwrights Theater ALUMNIJAM

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater will host a 25th Anniversary AlumniJam every Monday night in January. These four events will showcase 15 alumni playwrights who will revisit past productions and share new never-before-seen work. Participating writers include Bill Bowers, Jessica Dickey, William Francis Hoffman, Xavier Galva, Basil Kreimendahl, Michael Laurence, Jessica Litwak, Mashuq Mushtaq Deen, Matt Pepper, Tim Pickney, Diana Oh, Dael Orlandersmith, Jose Rivera, Cori Thomas, and Jonathan Tolins. These writers represent some of New York's greatest voices-Pulitzer finalists, Obie winners, and Academy Award nominees-who have shaped Off-Broadway theater over the last quarter century.

SLOW FOOD at Dorset Theatre Festival is a Funny and Sweet Finish to DTF's 2019 Season.

In Slow Food by playwright Wendy MacLeod, New York empty-nesters Irene and Peter head to Palm Springs to celebrate their anniversary. They are envisioning a carefree trip full of rest and relaxation but instead, they get stuck with a cargo van as their rental car, a nonfunctioning hot tub at their hotel, and Stephen, a waiter at the only restaurant that seems to be open late on a Sunday evening. While vans and hot tubs are minor hiccups on their anniversary trip, Stephen proves to be a formidable obstacle to their marital bliss when it becomes clear that their food will not be coming anytime soon.

The Politically Conscious Theater Company Presents 24-Hour Reading of The Mueller Report

The Neo-Futurist Theater announce that it will host a 24-hour staged reading of a redacted version of the report delivered by Special Counsel Robert Mueller beginning on August 9th, 2019 7:30 PM. The Neo-Futurists, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year as an established Chicago company, see the artistic movement's desire to maintain the report in public discourse as a part of the ongoing mission of the company to engage community in a timely piece that addresses the current constitutional quagmire.
