Pianist Kariné Poghosyan to Tour California

Armenian-American pianist Karine Poghosyan kicks off her spring California tour on Thursday, April 12th at 7pm with a solo recital showcasing the music of Aram Khachaturian at the Brand Library and Art Center in Glendale. Ms. Poghosyan, one of the world's foremost interpreters of Khachaturian's music, will be performing selections from her critically acclaimed debut release, Khachaturian Original Piano Works and Ballet Transcriptions on the Naxos Grand Piano label, featuring many of the composer's rarely heard and relatively neglected works for piano.

Santa Barbara Symphony Announces New Season

Subscription sales are underway for the Santa Barbara Symphony's 65th anniversary season, which will open October 20 with compelling works by Dohnanyi, Gershwin, and Berlioz. The orchestra will present a total of nine deeply satisfying programs at the Granada Theatre over the course of the season, including three non-subscription concerts. Series packages start at $163.

Final Curtain Call For Beloved Ballet Arizona Dancer In Upcoming Performances

Ballet Arizona's All Balanchine lineup includes three mesmerizing ballets by George Balanchine, one of the most important choreographers of the 20th Century. All Balanchine will open with Symphony in Three Movements, and feature Natalia Magnicaballi in two leading roles, The Siren in Prodigal Son, and The Sleepwalker in La Sonnambula in her final performance with Ballet Arizona. All Balanchine will be performed May 3-6, 2018 at Symphony Hall and is staged by Artistic Director Ib Andersen, one of just a handful of artists worldwide authorized by The Balanchine Trust to stage these masterpieces.

Opera Orlando Announces its 2018-2019 Season

Opera Orlando returns to the intimate setting of the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts for part of their 2018-2019 season. Three productions comprise The Opera on the Main Stage series as the company presents its third season of fully staged operas. The company also will inaugurate its Opera on the Town series in 2018-2019, performances in various venues in Central Florida. Numerous special events also will be held.

Bloomingdale School Of Music Presents THE LYRICAL BRAHMS, Today

Bloomingdale School of Music (BSM) continues its focus on faculty performances with pianist Judith Olson and guest artist Rolf Schulte on violin in a concert entitled, The Lyrical Brahms on today, April 27th at 7:00 pm. This free concert will be held at the school's home site located at 323 West 108th Street in Manhattan. Seating is limited.

American Ballet Theatre Announces 2018 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House

American Ballet Theatre's 2018 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 14 - July 7, will feature the World Premieres of AFTERITE by Wayne McGregor and Harlequinade by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky. Tickets for ABT's 2018 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House go on sale at the box office on Sunday, March 25 at 12 Noon.

Miami City Ballet Presents Season Finale Program

Miami City Ballet's Program Four features the company premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's acclaimed Concerto DSCH. In addition, the Program presents two of George Balanchine's classic ballets, including his first great masterwork, Apollo, as well as the haunting La Valse. In the wake of his triumphant The Fairy's Kiss, comes the company premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's Concerto DSCH, the amazingly inventive ballet, set to a seething Dmitri Shostakovich piano concerto.

Cantata Singers Announces 2018-19 Season

On Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at 8pm in NEC's Jordan Hall, Cantata Singers begins the season with J.S. Bach's exquisite cantata BWV 140, "Wachet auf," alongside the first complete performance of John Harbison's Sacred Trilogy. Presented in honor of the composers' 80th birthday, the three cantatas that form the Trilogy are all works commissioned by, and composed for, Cantata Singers. The first cantata, The Flight Into Egypt (1986), winner of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize. It tells the story of the escape of Joseph, Mary, and the baby Jesus from Judea. The second cantata, But Mary Stood (2006), recounts Mary Magdalene's recognition of Jesus after the resurrection. The third and final cantata, The Supper at Emmaus (2014), co-commissioned with Emmanuel Music, presents the encounters of two disciplines with the resurrected Jesus. This will be the first time all three works will be presented together on one concert.

Young Musicians Foundation's Debut Chamber Orchestra Presents THE MUSIC OF FLYING LOTUS

Electronic vs. orchestral music? Forget the 'vs.' The Young Musicians Foundation's Debut Chamber Orchestra (DCO), for the final concert of its 2017/18 season, will transcend the boundaries of these sonic landscapes by juxtaposing and combining the music of L.A.-based DJ, electronic musician and film director Flying Lotus alongside the works of Benjamin Britten and Igor Stravinsky.

The PSO Announces 2018-2019 Classical Season

The Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) announces its 2018-2019 season, featuring more concerts than ever before including a six-concert subscription series with new Saturday evening performance options and music ranging from classical Beethoven and Brahms concertos to a celebration of Leonard Bernstein favorites, works by Paganini, Jana?ek, and Stravinsky, and a Dvo?ak symphony. There is a recent piece by Missy Mazzoli and a new work by Derek Bermel, co-commissioned by the PSO. Superstar violinist Rachel Barton Pine, pianists Inon Barnatan and Dominic Cheli, soprano Meghan Picerno, and guest conductor Marcelo Lehninger grace the PSO stage. Audience favorites Daniel Rowland and flutist Chelsea Knox make highly anticipated return appearances, and an afternoon of music by Falla is accompanied by flamenco dancing. Presiding over all is conductor and Music Director Rossen Milanov, whose 10-year anniversary celebration with the PSO gets underway in early 2019.

'Nick Mauss: Transmissions' To Open At The Whitney

For his first solo museum show in the United States, artist Nick Mauss (b. 1980) will present Transmissions, an exhibition conceived for the Whitney, which explores the reciprocal relationship of modernist ballet and the avant-garde in New York from the 1930s through '50s. The exhibition-which features daily dance performances in the Whitney's eighth-floor Hurst Family Galleries-goes on view March 16.

Pennsylvania Ballet Announces 2018-2019 Season

Pennsylvania Ballet Artistic Director Angel Corella announced the programming for the 2018-2019 Season. The Company's 55th Season will feature 13 ballets with five world premieres and three company premieres including two classic love stories; Romeo and Juliet and Giselle. With the 2018-2019 Season, Corella continues to honor Pennsylvania Ballet's roots while igniting excitement and committing to new levels of excellence on stage.

BWW Review: DIRECTOR'S CHOICE at Festival Ballet Providence

A new adaptation of Igor Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale made its world debut at the VETS, Providence last night in a Festival Ballet Providence's production where it was, as per the ballet's direction, "read, played and danced.
