Village Playwrights Announes Upcoming Events

The Village Playwrights meet the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Studio 353, 353 W. 48th St., NYC in Studio 4.  Everyone is welcome. $5 suggested donation.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE Heats Up Odyssey Theatre

The team behind 2016's acclaimed production of Tennessee Williams' rarely-seen Kingdom of Earth, is back - this time, with Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire. Jack Heller directs Susan Priver (down-on-her-luck showgirl Myrtle in Kingdom of Earth, LA Weekly award-winning The Lover by Harold Pinter) as Blanche DuBois and Max E. Williams (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., numerous productions with Elephant Theatre Company) as Stanley Kowalski in a visiting production at the Odyssey Theatre presented by Dance On Productions in association with Linda Toliver and Gary Guidinger. Passions flare and cultures collide in the sultry streets of New Orleans beginning May 25, with performances continuing though July 7.

Ronald Rand Brings LET IT BE ART! To George S. Lindsey Theatre

KING LEAR Comes To Philadelphia's Quintessence Theatre Group

Quintessence Theatre Group, a professional classic theatre company located in Philadelphia's Mt. Airy neighborhood, takes on Shakespeare's greatest tragedy this spring. KING LEAR, a searing drama about the dangers of absolute power, comes to Quintessence from March 19, 2019 through April 20, 2019. Opening night is Saturday, March 23 at 7:30PM.

Review Roundup: HENRY V at Hartford Stage

Henry V is the first Shakespeare production, and the second play overall, in Hartford Stage's 55-year history to be staged in the round. In addition to Grush, the ensemble cast - comprised of half men and half women - features Karen Aldridge as Exeter, Miles Anderson as Pistol, Kate Forbes as the Constable of France and Burgundy, Peter Francis James as the Chorus and Sir Thomas Erpingham, Felicity Jones Latta as the Archbishop of Canterbury, Nym and Alice, and Baron Vaughn as Fluellen and Mistress Quickly. Hartford Stage Associate Artistic Director Elizabeth Williamson will helm the production, which marks her Shakespeare directorial debut for the Tony Award-winning theatre.

BITTER GREENS Makes World Premiere At 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) presents the world premiere of BITTER GREENS, written by Clea DeCrane and directed by Kevin Kittle. Produced by Station 26 Productions, BITTER GREENS begins performances on Friday, December 7 for a limited engagement through Sunday, December 23. Press Opening is Friday, December 14 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Saturday at 7:30 PM; and Sunday at 2:30 PM. Please note: there is an added performance on Saturday, December 8 at 2:30 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison). Single tickets are $25 ($20 for 59E59 Members). BWW Review: Two Actors Take on Ten Roles in THE TURN OF THE SCREW at the Art of Acting Studio

The Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company is presenting a limited engagement of Henry James' classic horror tale THE TURN OF THE SCREW in an adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher under the direction of Don K. Williams, featuring Sean Spann and Emily Sulzberger playing a total of 10 roles between them. It's a tale of a young governess just before the turn of the last century who is tasked with the care of two rather peculiar children at a country estate in England. Within a week of arriving, the governess comes to believe the children are possessed by the previous groundskeeper and governess who have since died. But is that really the case?

Hclab At The Art Of Acting Studio Presents THE TURN OF THE SCREW

The Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company has announced a limited engagement of Henry James' classic horror tale The Turn of the Screw in an adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher. Under the direction of Don K. Williams, the production will feature Sean Spann and Emily Sulzberger playing a total of 10 roles between them. Opening is set for Today, September 29, at 8pm.
