Playwrights Foundation, the West Coast's premiere launchpad for exceptional plays and playwrights announces the lineup for the 2020 Bay Area Playwrights Festival.

During this time when productions all over the world have been put on pause, we are coming together to celebrate plays that have left their mark on theater history. This week we will be focusing on the plays of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Arthur Miller. Today's play, All My Sons!

On Monday the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and its West coast branch the Art of Acting studio launched in-progress conservatory programs via remote video learning software. Studio leadership spent the last week training faculty on remote video platforms. The studio also announced that its summer programs will begin on July 6, 2020. 

The HCLAB Theatre Company and the Art of Acting Studio are proud to present its second annual Old Play Reading Festival, a twist on the concept of a a?oenewa?? play festival that instead honors plays in the classic theatre canon. The festival features alumni, faculty, administration, and friends of the Art of Acting Los Angeles and Stella Adler Studio of Acting NYC communities.

The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has announced 10 Finalists for its prestigious playwriting award, the oldest and largest prize awarded to women playwrights.

Max McLean is president and artistic director of Fellowship for Performing Arts. They have a long history of producing theatre from a Christian worldview to engage a diverse audience. The weekend they bring Birmingham a captivating production of C.S.Lewis' Screwtape Letters. McLean shares insight with me into this ten year running production and his passion for blending faith and the arts.

Goodwill Cultural Ambassador Ronald Rand, recently returned from performing at Nairobi's National Theatre in The Kenya International Theater Festival, will celebrate his 20th year of touring, performing his celebrated solo play, LET IT BE ART! in a special performance presented by Tennessee Valley Art Association (TVAA) at The Ritz Theatre's Ritz Studio in Sheffield, Alabama on February 29th.

Tacoma Little Theatre and the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) are pleased to present the AACT NewPlayFest winning play, Shattering by Pat Montley. Jon Lawrence Rivera, Artistic Director of Playwrights' Arena – the first and oldest theater dedicated to discovering, nurturing, and producing original works written exclusively by Los Angeles playwrights – is thrilled to announce the cast for RED INK by Steven Leigh Morris, which includes Michelle Bonebright-Carter, Tracey A. Leigh, Leo Marks, Christopher Salazar, Jocelyn Towne, and Peter Van Norden.

B.R.O.K.E.N code B.I.R.D switching is a thought-provoking new work by playwright Tara L. Wilson Noth. It will have a limited workshop engagement through November 23, at the Stephanie Feury Theatre, 5636 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles. In the play by the new playwright, a lawyer is tasked with representing a black teenager accused of murder. In her search for the truth, she is forced to face her own devastating truths about marriage, race and the woman she's chosen to be.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting has announced a special one-night reading of the fast-paced dramedy a?oeChurch & State,a?? a widely lauded play by Jason Odell Williams that seeks to explore the fraught dialogue about the nation's gun violence epidemic. The reading is a program of the Harold Clurman Lab Theater, the studio's professional wing which focuses on accessible world-class theater.

Performing in his 25th country, Goodwill Cultural Ambassador Ronald Rand will represent the United States at the Kenya International Theatre Festival, during his 20th year touring around the world in his celebrated solo play, LET IT BE ART! as Harold Clurman, 'the elder statesman of the American Theatre' on November 3rd in Nakuru at the Nakuru Players Theatre, and on November 5th at the Kenya National Theatre in Nairobi.

A Deliciously Witty, Insightful, Pulitzer Prize-Winning Play that Explores the Complexities of Marriage and Friendship to Open 2019/2020 Season at CV Rep

On August 4th, 2019, the new play reading series, A Place at the Table, held its first reading featuring an all womxn cast of Arthur Miller's 1964 play, Incident at Vichy. A Place at the Table, conceived by Olivia Daniels, Sarah Hogewood, and Ellie Handel, was created to take classic plays and reimagine them through a contemporary lens, offering womxn artists the chance to perform in roles that were not originally written with their voices in mind.

Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tracy Letts takes a brutally comedic look at Wheeler, a 50-year-old divorcee in the throes of a mid-life spiral. Get to know the cast below as they begin Broadway performances!

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting today announced its relocation to 65 Broadway in Lower Manhattan from the Studio's long-time home at 31 West 27th Street in Chelsea. The move takes place 70 years after the organization was founded by Stella Adler, whose philosophy has guided the Studio since 1949. 

The Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company (Tom Oppenheim, Artistic Director) has announced a limited engagement of William Shakespeare's King Lear. Under the direction of Nike Doukas, the production will feature H. Richard Greene in the title role, Mark Bramhall as Gloucester, Stephen Caffrey as Kent, and David Sussman as The Fool. Opening is set for Thursday, July 18, at 8pm.
